Thank you to everyone who joined us for the bat walk last night!

Over 170 people attended, so a huge thank you too to the rangers who lead the walk for us every year 🦇 .

The bats were a bit shy to begin with, but once the rain stopped we saw lots of pipistrelles flying around the trees near the Lovell Close entrance to the park.

There were fewer daubentons bats over the lake than usual, but some were spotted flying low over the lake hunting for insects.

We are lucky enough to have 18 species of bat in the UK, 17 of which are known to be breeding here - that's almost a quarter of our mammal species. Ever...

Come along and discover the wonderful heritage of the garden village as 19 historic venues open their doors for free across Bournville. From the spectacular Sebian Orthodox Church of St Lazars to the stunning Cadbury Concert Hall, and the beautiful Selly Manor to the amazing Quaker meeting house, plus lots lots more.

Organised by the Bournville Village Trust Heritage Team, there will be tours, performances, family activities, exhibitions, vintage car displays throughout the day and it’s all free to visit! Join us 10am – 4pm for a real celebration of this special place.

The 19 fantastic sites open this year are:

Selly Manor Museum
A Tudor manor and medieval hall rebuilt by the Cadbury family.
The Rest House
Displaying an exhibition celebrating women’s history in Bournville.
The Carillon
Hear this remarkable instrument as it plays throughout the day (please note there are no tours of the Carillon tower this year).
Quaker Meeting House
Built in 1905, a Y-shaped building designed by W.A. Harvey.
Bournville Almshouses*
Guided heritage tours of a unique building built by Richard Cadbury.
St Francis Church
A beautiful church, consecrated in 1925, which recently celebrated its centenary.
Vintage Vehicles
See the sights of historic cars at Bournville Village Green (weather permitting).
St Lazar’s Church
An incredible Serbian Orthodox Church with a spectacular interior.
Bournville Village Primary School
See the stunning George Hall and learn about the beautiful frescoes.
Bournville Model Boat Club
See and have a go at sailing these splendid boats.
The War Memorial Room
Situated in the Pavilion to remember Cadbury employees.
The Cadbury Concert Hall
A stunning music venue in the heart of the factory.
The Cadbury Archives*
Enjoy tours of this newly refurbished treasure trove of archives.
Bournville Crown Green Bowls Club
Have a go at crown green bowls at this iconic club.
Dame Elizabeth Hall
Opened in 1930, discover the story of the Bournville Village Festival.
Manor Farm Park
A self-guided 2km heritage trail linking 10 sites at the park, with tours at 11am and 2pm.
The Old Bank
One of the oldest buildings in Bournville, that was formerly a bank and Estate Office.
Cadbury World*
Free entry tickets to Cadbury World will be made available for a limited number of guests who book the Historical Talk on the History of Bournville and the Cadbury Family.
Ruskin Hall
A rare opportunity to explore parts of the oldest community building in Bournville.
Fircroft College
Explore the beautiful grounds of George Cadbury Junior’s former home.
*Please note all pre-booked tickets for the Almshouses, Cadbury Archives and Cadbury World have now sold out. There is no need to book for the remaining 16 sites.

We're looking forward to being part of Bournville Heritage Open Day on Saturday 12 September as part of Birmingham Heritage Week.

We'll have an information stall in the park from 10am - 4pm where you can pick up a heritage trail leaflet, and there will be free guided walks led by a FoMFP volunteer at 11am and 2pm.

📣 It's here!

Birmingham and Liverpool are going head to head. From Monday 7 September, Go Jauntly is running a free six week walking and wheeling challenge, all about walking, wellbeing and friendly rivalry. 🚶🏽 🚴
