SOHO HILL: We have the space but we don’t have the will from the top. Birmingham City Council, you should increase their council tax by 10x to disincentivise land banking and support development.

We’re so close to town - how are buildings like this left to rot so badly. We have the power to ask for better, ask for more - we are in a housing crisis so how is this not housing for families with community space?

why do some providers have such little care: for their tenants, neighbours and our community - it's disgusting and we are fighting back against it 👍

What happens when an untaxed car is parked on the road in Handsworth? 🤔

Yes that’s right, we remove it 🙌🏻

This week I was out with Operation Fearless and partners to remove untaxed cars from our roads because they are taking up space on our roads which already have very little parking! 🫣

Many residents came out to thank us - because they know how unfair it is that people who think they’re above the law can get away with it 😣

Whilst doing this operation a van drove towards us - the police saw it wasn’t taxed, MOT’d and had no insurance - the driver was disqualified too 😭

So that guy got arrested - and that’s one less eejat on the streets 👍🏼

5 crazy police cases in and around Soho Road 🫣

Do you want someone walking free in our community who is wanted for assault, burglary and carrying an axe? 🤔

Do you want more drugs on our streets - not just cannabis but spice, mamba, crack, and worse? 🫣

Operation Fearless have hit the ground running since May — they have been working to make Soho Road and surrounding areas safer 👍🏼

These are just a few of the cases they’ve been looking into 🙏🏼

Alongside this we are working on other approaches to reducing crime and improving safety, like reopening youth clubs, holding supported housing providers to account and challenging illegal landlords 💪🏽

All of these approaches are needed if we want to make real, systemic change that the majority of residents want ❤️

🚨 BANKING HUB COMMUNITY MEETING NEXT WEEK! 🗣️

Lloyds Bank on Soho Road is closing next June but me, Cllr Brooks and Cllr Freshwater are leading a cross-party campaign to keep banking services 🙏🏽

Over 500 people responded to our survey and we now have confirmation from Cash Access that a Banking Hub WILL be delivered on Soho Road - which will include ATMs, banking services for all major banks and cash withdrawal/deposit services 🙌

But the work doesn't end there - we need to make sure this Banking Hub operates well for our residents, so we're inviting you to a community engagement meeting...
