The one question we get asked most is...

"Why do other parents seem to be coping so much better?"

It’s easy to look around, or scroll through social media and feel like everyone else has parenthood figured out.

But parenting isn’t always picture perfect.

Behind the scenes, many parents are exhausted, overwhelmed and feeling broken.

Adjusting to life as a parent is a huge change, and it’s completely normal to find it difficult at times.

You are not alone.

So many parents share these feelings, even if they don’t always talk about them.

Being honest about how you’re feeling can really help 💛

Did you catch us on Premier Christian Radio earlier this week?

Our Acting Operations Director, Becky Douglas Jones, joined by Laura Swinburn, who has used Acacia's services, to talk about postnatal depression and how churches and the wider community can offer support during this challenging time in a new parent's life.

Last week, our wonderful team member Yvonne attended an antenatal clinic at Birmingham Women's Hospital and Charity, meeting expectant parents and raising awareness of the support Acacia provides for maternal mental health and emotional wellbeing.

It was a great opportunity to meet families early in their journey and share the support available during pregnancy and beyond 💜

🌈 This Pride Month, we want LGBTQIA+ parents and their partners to know that you are seen and we are here to support you.

Pre and postnatal depression and anxiety can affect anyone, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. If you're struggling, you don't have to face it alone.

At Acacia, we provide a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive space for LGBTQIA+ parents and their partners living in Birmingham to access the care and support they need during pregnancy and after birth.

We are committed to ensuring that everyone who uses our services feels respected, understood, and empowered throughout their journey to parenthood.

💜 If you or someone you know needs support, we're here to help.

🫨🫨🫨 When we heard about what this incredible young lady is doing for Acacia, we were BLOWN AWAY!!!!

While most people in their final year of college are busy thinking about exams and deadline - Lois has chosen to do something BIG.

On Monday 29th June, Lois will be shaving off all her hair to raise money for Acacia.

We are so inspired by this act to make a difference for others. The world needs more people like this! ❤️

So let’s help make this BIG.

💥 She has already raised a whopping £1,800. Her goal is to reach £3000.

Can you help?

💛 If you can donate, please do

💙 Over the past week, we've been sharing the words of our volunteers and what volunteering with Acacia means to them. We think this says it all...

"I came to give, but I also came away having gleaned so much."

Our amazing volunteers give their time, compassion and support to make a difference in the lives of others.

But along the way, volunteering can also bring friendship, confidence, a new perspective and a sense of belonging. ❤️

To every person who has volunteered with Acacia, thank you for your kindness, your compassion and for being part of our family.

You make Acacia what it is, and we're so grateful for each and every one of you. 💙

💙 This National Volunteer Week, we're reflecting on the incredible impact our volunteers have – not just on the families we support, but on each other too.

One volunteer told us:

"I have learned that my struggles are not mine alone, and that there is comfort in shared journeys."

There's something powerful about knowing you're not alone.

Every week our volunteers listen, encourage, support and walk alongside others. Sometimes it's the smallest acts of kindness that make the biggest difference.

Thank you for being there when it matters most. 💙
