Skills for Life | National Cadets Week

We asked our cadets and adult volunteers what they have gained from being part of the Army Cadet Force and their answers show just how much the experience can offer!

Practical skills: First aid qualifications, IT skills, map reading, shooting, drill and learning to play multiple musical instruments.

Skills for everyday life: Leadership, people management, teamwork and solving problems together.

Confidence: Taking charge, talking to new people, asking for help and feeling more comfortable in themselves and their decisions.

Personal development: For our adult volunteers, achievements also included completing the Skill at Arms Instructor course and successfully passing a commissioning board.

Our members also spoke about meeting people with similar interests, improving their fitness and the positive difference being a cadet has made to their mental wellbeing.

From finding the confidence to speak up to learning how to lead others, these are skills and experiences they can carry into school, work and everyday life.

Cadets Save Lives | National Cadets Week

From learning the basics of first aid to having the opportunity to achieve a First Aid at Work qualification, cadets develop skills they can take with them into adulthood.

As cadets progress through the Army Cadet Force Syllabus, they build the knowledge and confidence to help someone in an emergency at school, at home, at work or out in their community.

These are skills that stay with them long after they leave cadets, and could one day make a life-saving difference.

Behind every cadet’s achievements are volunteers striving to help them succeed.

This National Cadets Week, we want to say a huge thank you to our Cadet Force Adult Volunteers for the time, energy and dedication they give to our cadets.

From weekly parade nights to weekends away and annual camp, you create opportunities for young people to develop new skills, build confidence, make friendships and achieve things they never thought possible.

So much of your work happens behind the scenes planning training, organising activities and making sure our cadets feel supported. Your commitment makes a lasting difference, and we are proud to have you as part of our Army Cadets family.

To all our volunteers: Thank you for everything you do.

💬 Give your Detachment, Company and County volunteers a shout-out in the comments!

🥁 More moments from our Corps of Drums’ visit to Shropshire ACF’s music training day! 🎶

Joining fellow cadet musicians is a great opportunity to develop skills, build confidence and work together through a shared love of music.

Thank you again to Shropshire ACF for inviting us along and to the volunteers who made the day possible. 👏

📸 Enjoy a few more photos from the day!

Teamwork in action!

Cadets from B Company, Warwickshire and West Midlands Army Cadets, were pleased to lend a hand at MIRA Tech Park, helping install fencing for its new woodland walk.

It was a fantastic opportunity to develop practical skills, build confidence and work together while contributing to a green space that colleagues and visitors will be able to enjoy.

A big thank you to the team at HORIBA MIRA for welcoming us and giving our cadets the opportunity to get involved. We’re proud to have played a part and look forward to seeing the completed woodland walk!
