💛 Supporter Sunday 💛

Would anyone be kind enough to donate some Bonios or soft treats for our dogs? We’re running low at Daybreaks Trust, and our greyhounds love having a Bonio at the end of the day as a little treat or soft treats throughout the day.

You can drop donations off at the kennels, or order through Amazon and have them delivered to:

Daybreaks Kennels

Elmdon

Thank you for caring for our dogs 🐾

🐾Happy World Animal Day! 🐾

Today we’re celebrating animals everywhere — and especially the wonderful Greyhounds who come through Daybreaks Trust.

Every Greyhound deserves patience, kindness and the chance to enjoy life as a much-loved pet. Thanks to our staff, volunteers, fosterers, adopters and supporters, so many former racing Greyhounds get the forever home they deserve.

There are lots of ways you can help us care for and rehome our greyhounds. You could adopt, foster or volunteer at one of our events; support us with a monthly donation through our 50:50 Club; or book a run in Daybreaks’ sand run. You can also book a bath or nail clipping with Laura — proceeds from these services go to Daybreaks Trust too.

Check out our website for how you can support Daybreaks Trust: https://daybreakstrust.co.uk/

📸 Last chance to book! There are still a few tickets left for Daybreaks Trust’s Dog Photography Workshop this Sunday, 4 October — but today is the last day to buy yours!

Join award-winning photographer Sharron Alexandra for three hours of expert guidance, from camera settings and lighting to choosing the right background. Whether you’re using a camera phone or a professional camera, and whether you’re a beginner or a wannabe pro, everyone is welcome.

Check out Sharron‘s amazing work at: https://sharronalexandraphotography.myportfolio.com/

The workshop runs from 11am–2pm and costs £49.50. Sharron is generously donating all proceeds to Daybreaks Trust, helping us care for and rehome former racing Greyhounds. You’ll even get to meet some of the Greyhounds between taking photos — what’s not to love?

Last year’s participants said: “That was great!” and “Really enjoyed the workshop, learnt a lot!”

Harry didn’t spend long in kennels before his new mum and dad noticed him, and adopted him ❤️. His pawrents said he’s settled in really well at home.

🖤 It’s National Black Dog Day 🖤

Black dogs can be overlooked when people are searching for a new best friend. Statistics suggest that black dogs can wait between 15% and 50% longer to be rehomed than dogs with other coat colours. At Battersea’s Old Windsor centre, figures reported in 2017 showed black Greyhounds waited an average of 55 days for a home, compared with 30 days for Greyhounds overall. That’s one centre’s data, but it shows how much longer some black dogs can wait.

There are a few reasons why black dogs may be overlooked in rehoming centres:
💔Humans are naturally more attracted to brighter colours so black dogs stand out less.
💔Black dogs can be more difficult to photograph clearly.
💔 Black Greyhounds are more common than other colours of Greyhound.

Here are just some of our gorgeous black dogs still waiting for their forever homes. Their coat colour says nothing about how much love and personality they have to share. 🐾

-Bottom left is Sootie
