Assistance needed - hit and run possibly stolen vehicle or used in crime on Thursday 24th September at approx 3.05pm on Aberdeen st zebra crossing by old city hospital a&e- a light blue ford fiesta SA59 FHW hit a vehicle in the rear waiting at zebra crossing and didn't pull over to exchange details. Very distinct colour like a frozen blue silver. Any info is appreciated.

🚒 WARD END FIRE STATION – UPDATE

I know there has been a lot of concern about the future of Ward End Fire Station, so I want to explain where things currently stand.

The fire station is not owned by Birmingham City Council. It is the Fire Authority that is consulting on potentially disposing of the site.

The building is now over 40 years old and they have said significant investment is needed to make it fit for the future, including:

• Around £170,000 for a new roof
• Around £250,000 for a full rewire

Their proposal is to relocate the service to the Vauxhall Road headquarters.

I am currently in discussions to understand what options we have to keep a fire station in Ward End and protect this important local service.

If the current site is sold, I have been told its estimated sale value is around £850,000.

I’ll keep residents updated as those discussions continue. For me, this has to be about more than the value of the land - it is about emergency response, a growing community and what Ward End will need for the future.

The consultation for Safer School Roads around Thornton Primary School has now opened.

The proposals include a one-way system around Thornton Road and St Agatha’s Road, helping to make the area safer for our children, parents and local residents.

I’d ask all residents to take a few minutes to complete the consultation and have your say. I would also encourage residents to use the comments section to ask that Monk Road and Bamville Road are considered as part of the wider scheme, so we can look at traffic movement across the whole area rather than individual roads in isolation.
