Join us in congratulating Irene Clarke who has been awarded the British Empire Medal in the King's Birthday Honours for her services to fundraising and to the local community. After her grandson was diagnosed with liver disease 19 years ago, Irene, her husband Ken and her extended family have been committed to raising funds and awareness to support young people with liver disease. We're delighted to see her recognised in this way - well done Irene!👏 👏

For the first time ever, liver disease has been formally recognised by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a global non-communicable disease priority. The decision places liver health firmly on the global health agenda and calls on governments to improve prevention, early diagnosis and access to treatment.

This landmark decision is a major step forward for everyone affected by liver disease. We have long campaigned for greater recognition of liver disease, so we're delighted to see this important breakthrough. It sends a clear message that liver health can no longer be overlooked.
