The Aplastic Anaemia Trust

The Aplastic Anaemia Trust The official page for The Aplastic Anaemia Trust - the only charity in the UK focused on aplastic anaemia and allied rare bone marrow failures

The Aplastic Anaemia Trust is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to research into aplastic anaemia and the support of patients and their families. Few people know about this disease despite the fact that it is as common as some types of leukaemia and just as devastating. On this page you can read about our latest activities.

If you are a patient looking for support or have a friend or

family member with aplastic anaemia, you may also be interested in joiningour private Facebook Support Group, 'The Aplastic Anaemia Trust - Patient Support'. This is a Closed Group where patients can talk freely about any aspect of aplastic anaemia.

Are you aged 16-25, living with a rare bone marrow failure condition, and would like a safe space to come together with others, to talk openly about anything that may be causing you to feel stressed and anxious, uncertain or maybe you would like to connect with other young people who truly 'get it'.

Living with a rare bone marrow failure condition can be challenging and isolating, but together we can come together and support one another.

We would love to welcome you along to our online 6 week support group which begins on Thursday 25th June at 6pm and is led by Clinical Psychologist, Catarina.

From the Scottish Borders to the Shetland Islands, and everywhere in between.

Our very own Scot, Linzi is so excited to be leading our first online chat this evening for everyone affected by aplastic anaemia or a rare bone marrow failure condition who is living in Scotland.

We understand that living in rural areas of the country can make it difficult to reach our coffee, cake and chats which provide opportunities for patients to come together to meet people living through similar experiences. We have therefore decided to hold an online chat where you can meet others living in Scotland who are also affected by rare bone marrow failure conditions.

Please join our wonderful Support & Outreach Coordinator, Linzi online TONIGHT at 6:30pm by registering for the free event here

Are you part of someone's circle of support?

If you are a partner, loved one, family member or friend of someone living with a rare bone marrow failure condition, then this chat is for you.

Our partners & loved ones chat will provide a safe, warm & welcoming space where you can vent, laugh and cry with others who are going through similar circumstances to you, without any feelings of judgement or misunderstanding.

Being diagnosed with a condition such as aplastic anaemia is life changing, not just for the patient, but for those closest to them also. This is something our chat leader, Mandy knows about all too well after her husband, Gareth was diagnosed in 2018 with aplastic anaemia, which inspired her to want to help others going through similar times of uncertainty and worries.
