The Aplastic Anaemia Trust is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to research into aplastic anaemia and the support of patients and their families. Few people know about this disease despite the fact that it is as common as some types of leukaemia and just as devastating. On this page you can read about our latest activities.

Do you celebrate your re-birthday? Here is how Jensen celebrated his first re-birthday.

"Jensen had such a lovely rebirthday!

We started the day with breakfast at our local Wetherspoons, because Jensen absolutely loves their pancakes with fruit and golden syrup! 🥞🍓

Then we headed to Hunstanton for the day. Jensen went on some rides, played crazy golf, spent time in the arcades, and of course had an ice cream and a hot doughnut!

By the end of the day he was absolutely shattered and asked to go home — which was the perfect excuse for a chilled evening.

Me, Ben, Jensen and Bailey, had cake and enjoyed being together. ❤️

After everything Jensen has been through, days like this mean so much. He got to simply be an 8-year-old boy, have fun and enjoy his Re-Birthday — and we couldn’t ask for more. ❤️

And now we’re turning our attention to giving something back. This Christmas, alongside our toy appeal for the children at Addenbrooke’s, we’ll also be raising money for The Aplastic Anaemia Trust. We want to use Jensen’s story to help raise awareness and support other families facing Aplastic Anaemia. ❤️ " - Terri, Jensen's mum

One week ago 13 people ran the Great North Run for us. It was such and incredible day, the sun was shining and the atmosphere was fantastic.

Running proud in their AAT vests and costumes, they raised awareness of aplastic anaemia and The AAT and raised over £11,300. What an amazing bunch of people ❤

The Aplastic Anaemia Trust have written to the Secretary of State for Health & Social Care calling on her to introduce MDTs for aplastic anaemia, Fanconi anaemia and related bone marrow failure conditions.

One way the NHS can improve outcomes for patients is by bringing expert haematologists, immunologists, geneticists and psychologists together to discuss complex cases, treatment options, new medications such as eltrombopag and ongoing care needs.

We believe that MDTs will significantly improve patient outcomes, reduce strain on vital services and go a long way to tackling the health inequalities experienced by our communities. This could also be achieved with a minimal investment and national coordination.
