Our Sandwell I&A offices are looking for volunteer support. Can you help?

Volunteer Opportunity – Information & Advice (Form Filling), Sandwell

Could you spare some time weekly to help older people navigate important forms and online applications?

We’re looking for a caring, confident volunteer to support people aged 50+ with things like benefit applications and other essential paperwork. Support may be provided from our offices / outreach venues, and by telephone or during home visits.

This role could be for you if you:

💬 Communicate clearly and patiently
💻 Are confident using computers and online forms
✍️ Have good literacy and numeracy skills
📋 Are accurate, organised and respectful of confidentiality
🤝 Can offer regular, longer-term support

Full training is provided, including GDPR, form filling and lone working, and you’ll initially volunteer alongside experienced staff.

📍 Various locations across Sandwell including clients’ homes
⏰ Flexible around volunteer availability Monday to Friday 9:30 – 3:30

These simple exercises are designed to help improve strength, balance and confidence, and can be practised at home.

Move at your own pace, use a sturdy chair for support and make sure the space around you is clear. Stop if you feel pain, dizziness or discomfort.

🌿 Love nature and enjoy bringing people together?

Age UK Sandwell is looking for a friendly volunteer to help lead our weekly nature-themed WhatsApp Telephone Group.

📱 Remote Volunteering
📅 Wednesdays, 3:30pm–4:30pm (with regular check-ins throughout the week)

You’ll help create a relaxed and welcoming space where people can chat and share an interest in nature.

💚 What you’ll be doing:

- Taking a simple register of attendees
- Helping guide conversations around nature-based topics
- Joining and supporting the one-hour weekly voice call
- Keeping an eye on the WhatsApp chat during the week, in line with our group guidelines and code of conduct
- Regular check-ins and support from the Age UK Sandwell team.

🌱 We’re simply looking for someone with a listening ear, a positive attitude and an interest in the natural world.
