Feed My Creative CIC a multi award winning social enterprise who works with young people and adults demonstrating ways to be more sustainable with fabrics with a community focus. Her aims are to reduce waste, create more sustainable communities, inspire creativity through craft workshops focused on using recycled fabric and materials and having the opportunity to talk about common issues and/or experiences, bereavement etc.

On the 22nd June, I facilitated an educational workshop with year 6 students from school at the for

They had to create their own “Letters Home” inspired by the Windrush generation written on fabric rather than on paper.

Why letters? In a world dominated by the internet… instant messages, emails, and social media, I wanted them to step back in time and experience how people once stayed connected through handwritten letters.

Using what they had already learned at school, alongside the stories and information I shared, they had to think carefully about what they would write, who they would write to.

I then took their work away with me to stitch together to create a banner that could then be displayed in their school.

A fantastic project, a fantastic outcome and I’d like to thank the pupils for creating such brilliant letters and the NMA for facilitating a great day. Good luck to the students moving on to secondary school, you’ve left a legacy of your work for the other years to see and be inspired by 💚💛🖤♥️

Chapter 53

Time for reflection...

Words are powerful. At the end of last year, I asked for a reset. Looking back now, I can see that the things I asked for are finally falling into place, maybe not in the order I hoped for but they are still happening. If you’re asking for change, be prepared when those blessings arrive. There are a few things I’ll share in due course, once the paperwork is complete.

As I turn the page into my Chapter 53, I can’t help but reflect on the last six months.

The changes I hoped for have been processed, implemented, and are now moving in ways I never expected. More importantly, I’ve stopped waiting for opportunities built on empty promises that never materialise. Instead, I’ve been knocking down those doors myself and creating my own opportunities.

The next six months bring new challenges, new spaces to work and grow, the completion of my Master’s degree, exciting new opportunities, and hopefully the launch of a new project.

Sometimes progress doesn’t look the way you imagined it would. But when you keep moving forward, even through uncertainty, incredible things can happen.

Windrush day 2026

I spent a day at the National Memorial Arboretum with 60 year 6 primary school children to create letters home.

Why letters? Because in a world where everything is dominated by the internet, I wanted them to go back to a time where we wrote a letters to keep in touch.

Using the information they’d learnt at school, and the information I shared with them they had to think about what would they write about, who would they write to, how would they greet the person receiving the letter (hi would not be acceptable!)

They did a fantastic job and I look forward in reading them all before I stitch them together to create a ‘Windrush Letters Home’ banner to present to the school. I also gifted the school one of my books.

Men (18+) Wanted for Research Project

As part of my MA Craft research project, ‘Broken But Well Put Together’, I am looking for men aged 18+ to contribute to research exploring masculinity, emotional expression, resilience, and recovery.

The project explores the idea of being “broken but well put together” and how men can appear strong on the outside while carrying experiences, pressures, or challenges that are not always visible.

You can take part in one of three ways:
🔵Complete a short online questionnaire
🔵Join a creative workshop (held at my studio in Birmingham during July) involving stitching, denim repair, and simple hands-on activities designed to encourage conversation and reflection through making
🔵Take part in both the questionnaire and workshop

No sewing skills, artistic experience, or creative background are needed.

Workshop places are limited to a small number of participants to help create a supportive and welcoming environment.

This is a non-clinical research project, and participation is entirely voluntary. The focus is on creativity, storytelling, and shared experiences rather than therapy or counselling.

The insights gathered will contribute to a series of textile sculptures and a written research project as part of my MA in Craft at Manchester Metropolitan University

All contributions will remain anonymous and confidential unless participants choose to be identified and have provided prior consent.

One of my favourite makes from last year.

I made 14” coloured vinyl (red, orange and green) as an additional visuals for the interactive denim turntables (demonstrated in a post further down👇🏾) that I was commissioned for the mmu Art School Commission in the Vertical Gallery 2025.

If you know me, you know it was inevitable I’d combine my favourite things - Music and denim 👌🏾

Some people thought they were real vinyl and that I’d actually recorded on them.. nope I was not blessed with a recording voice 🫣🥴

The turntables also double up as working speakers so I may sell them separately (eventually)🤔

I’m honoured to have been commissioned to be the designer not just for the exhibition but also to create the book and additional visuals.

I’ve been saying it for years, it’s important that we continue to record these stories before it is too late.
An important part of our history that needs to be shared for generations to come.
