One of my favourite makes from last year.

I made 14” coloured vinyl (red, orange and green) as an additional visuals for the interactive denim turntables (demonstrated in a post further down👇🏾) that I was commissioned for the mmu Art School Commission in the Vertical Gallery 2025.

If you know me, you know it was inevitable I’d combine my favourite things - Music and denim 👌🏾

Some people thought they were real vinyl and that I’d actually recorded on them.. nope I was not blessed with a recording voice 🫣🥴

The turntables also double up as working speakers so I may sell them separately (eventually)🤔

I’m honoured to have been commissioned to be the designer not just for the exhibition but also to create the book and additional visuals.

I’ve been saying it for years, it’s important that we continue to record these stories before it is too late.
An important part of our history that needs to be shared for generations to come.

Thank you again to Lee for covering the launch on Saturday.

It’s taken days to even think of the words and even now, I’m tearing up. 😢

has left his footprints everywhere. Guaranteed even if you never met him you’ll have seen his work not just in London but in Birmingham. An international LEGEND that no one could/should forget.

I can’t even remember the first time we met. He called us the ‘Milly Crew’ as we live on the same road, each time we celebrated completed work we’d say Milly Crew did it again! We spoke many times about collaborating on a new project, as we collectively had so many ideas that would blow your mind.

We spoke many times about touring this piece of work, now I don’t want it to leave its home on my studio wall. I look at everyday and I’m still finding new things he’d included. 💔

My heart is truly broken for CeCe, lil C and his family, close friends, and everyone who knew him.
Bunny we salute you RIP KING💔🫡

・・・
So I was asked by to collaborate on her exhibition called Chapters Of Our Lives. I reached back to an experiment piece I did a while back and thought it would be perfect for this project but this version would be more defined and with more intent, purpose and direction. There are various images, words, names, dates and colours that talk of our history as black caribbean people since the Windrush Generation. There is a section where I take my mother’s three passports and merge them into one I also have four nurses place statistically on the canvas. BUT there is so much on there you will be there for a while in order for you to get the full message and I don’t wanna give to much away

AND then Janet from comes in on the canvas with her hidden elements which you’ll only find by touching and feeling the canvas and then you’ll hear the hidden music and messages. Over time with various visits the canvas will start to create a history of its own as the images start to become ruffled and loosend. If you can come and see it in person as these images don’t give it the justice.

My mom didn’t catch this on the news, but on that Monday morning she had several phone calls saying, “I saw Janet on the Good Morning Britain ITV local news this morning!” As a mother would be she was beaming 🥰

When I finally got sent the clip, I forwarded it to her on WhatsApp and her response?
“Is that it?! You weren’t even on for 5 minutes!” 😂

She was so disappointed, but I couldn’t help but laugh. I hadn’t even wanted to be interviewed in the first place yet those 30 seconds mattered. They gave me the chance to share something truly important.

The Forgotten Generations “Lest We Forget” Exhibition, is a powerful reminder that there is so much history living among us. Our parents, family members, neighbours, and colleagues all carry incredible stories some joyful, some painful but all important to give that listening ear to.

This exhibition exists to make sure those voices are heard before it’s too late.
If we don’t take up those opportunities now, those memories and experiences could be lost forever.

The last clip is our oldest veteran featured Prince Albert ‘Jake’ Jacobs when he was interviewed recently on , a remarkable man at 100years old!!

📍 The Forgotten Generations – “Lest We Forget” Exhibition

And if you’re lucky, you might visit on a day when Donald Campbell, one of the veterans featured, and the CEO of The Forgotten Generations is there, you could even get a personal walkthrough!

Thank you again to Donald for commissioning me and for championing every single veteran and their experiences and his own that he talks about so passionately. 🫡

Over the past 6 months I’ve been working with Donald Campbell the CEO of ‘TheForgottenGenerations’ designing the visuals for this amazing exhibition ‘Lest We Forget’, commemorating the public service of Black RAF Veterans of the West Midlands since the 2nd World War.

This is the first time I’ve taken on the design lead for an exhibition of this kind, and it’s been an experience. The powerful portraits at the heart of this exhibition were captured by none other than the legendary .

Installation was quite exciting seeing it all come together. This has been a special one to work on and meeting all the veterans has been an absolute honour.

Hope you are able to take some time to visit.

International Women’s Day and the first 🤩

The first award announcement of the night was ‘Best Craft Innovation of the Year’ and I won 🏆🍾🥂🎊

I’m still on a high!!! It was also the first time in a long time myself and / were able to take a night off with our hats on. Although we didn’t win our category of ‘Best Creative Exhibition’ we had a fabulous night with some of our most favourite creative people ♥️

There hasn’t been a creatives awards like this for a very very very long time. So being a finalist/winner for these awards hit very different!!

Creatives in Birmingham and the West Midlands often feel overlooked and therefore tend to look go to other cities for collaboration and opportunities.
I’ve felt disheartened for a long time and I for one have also looked outside of Birmingham for my what next.

Last night there was a room FULL of creatives, do you know how special that was!!! Thank you to and for creating these awards and adding them to their portfolio of amazing awards they put on annually. 🌸🌹🥰

What’s next for Feed My Creative 🤔 Watch this space as I’m making some changes 👀 😉

Thank you to everyone who have been my cheerleaders at every stage.. love y’all ♥️♥️

One thing to know about me and what I do with FeedMyCreativeCIC is we do is so much more than just sewing 🙏🏾

There has been quite a few delays in getting this project started but here it is!

A project FOR the community, BY the community 🤩

The Re:Project was my very first funded project that I launched in 2019 and it has taken a few different angles over the years but the impact and outcome has been the same.. self care packages for the community.

If you live in Aston/ Newtown and fancy helping to create some beautiful wash bags for your community get in touch. 🧵🪡

We plan to start next Saturday with the prep and then get stuck in, in January. It’s a short project but there’s lots to do in a short time. Space in my studio is limited but if anyone wants to take away packs to sew at home that can be arranged. 🙏🏾

As a company big on sustainability and reusing fabric we will be using some absolutely beautiful fabrics generously donated by JDD | Joint Design Direction and Sadie MillerMaggs 🌱 BDES, MA 😍 and scrim from the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and , making stunning wash bags which will then filled with a range of toiletry and hair products. 💜♥️💜

A couple years ago I was fortunate to receive a really generous donation of hair care products from Jamelia Donaldson TreasureTress, I’ve been able to donate near to if not over 1000 care packs. I’m down to the last fifth of products received so will be able to include these within the self care packs . I’m eternally grateful for the support from Jamelia and her team 💜🌸💜

Funded with thanks to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund Programme for Aston and Newtown wards and the wWest Midlands Combined Authority 🙏🏾🖤

An extra special thank you to Kerry Leslie for her continued support with and help completing the flyer, your support is truly appreciated and I thank you for everything you do to keep me going even when I get frustrated 🌸

Please share amongst your networks, neighbours and contacts.

If you are/ work for a company that would like to donate some products to the project please email me [email protected]

It’s been a real rollercoaster of a year but I won’t bore you with the ins and outs of it but there is a reason I don’t get to post as much as usual.

Over the coming days I’ll post more of what’s coming up and a couple things I’ve been involved with but this is the first of them.

Between 29th Oct - 9th Nov with my hat on, I co-curated an exhibition named ‘For The Culture’ at the . It was an exhibition with a collective of artists from Birmingham and the West Midlands. Even though I was one of the organisers I was persuaded by to create something to exhibit. 🥰

So over a few months using reclaimed wood, speakers and denim I made this Bluetooth wall speaker. It’s the first of all my speakers created for workshops and sessions that I have decided to sell, with all proceeds going back to Feed My Creative to support the work I do for the community. 🙏🏾

I may make another as the framework has been made, but this is a ‘one of one’ and there will never be another like it. 👌🏾

As much as I love and want to keep it, I really haven’t got the room and I think it’ll look/sound great in someone’s workspace, home, shop or studio. 🔊

So if you or know someone that would be interested please get in touch. It costs £450 plus delivery if not local.

You can hear it playing in some of the visuals, it’s not made to be loud like a sound system, but more of an aesthetic and background sound whilst chilling. It has volume control with some base and treble.

Let me know and if you are local you can come and view if you hadn’t seen it in the exhibition.
