Creativity, connection and a space to breathe 💛

Recent support from Creative Black Country’s Creative Communities strand gave the Creative Moms Support Network the opportunity to bring together mothers of neurodivergent and SEND children for a series of creative wellbeing sessions.

Through hands on creative activities and open conversation, the sessions created a safe and welcoming space where mothers could pause, connect and feel heard. Participants shared experiences, supported one another and built new friendships, while taking time to focus on their own wellbeing.

As one participant shared: “Thank you - Great night and felt lovely being part of a group that understands.”

With thanks to for the images, feedback and bringing people together. A brilliant example of how creativity can bring people together and reduce isolation in our communities.

Last month, Wild Earth Movement hosted a Junk Journalling wellbeing workshop at Merry Hill, inviting people to slow down, switch off from screens and spend time creating something just for themselves.

Using recycled books, fabrics, magazines and found materials, participants transformed everyday objects into beautiful personal journals. What started as a simple craft session quickly became something more, as new friendships formed, phone numbers were exchanged and people discovered the joy of making together.

The feedback was incredibly heartwarming, with many attendees saying how special it felt to take intentional time for themselves, meet new people and rediscover creativity. Some are even continuing their junk journalling at home and have already asked if the session can return next year.

Workshops like this remind us how powerful creativity can be in bringing people together and supporting wellbeing across our communities.

Led by Tipton artist Thea, the Tipton in Bloom - Botanical Mapping workshop invited participants to create their own collaged leaves and petals, layering them onto a large map of Tipton.

The result was a blooming, collective artwork rooted in place and imagination.

This session forms part of Three 15’s trial programming in Tipton, testing out creative activities shaped with and for local communities. By working with artists connected to the area, the programme continues to explore how culture can be woven into everyday spaces, from libraries to community venues, making creativity accessible and visible.
