At Citizens Advice Birmingham, we help people navigate some of life's most challenging circumstances. We're looking for an experienced Debt Caseworker to join our team and provide high-quality debt advice that helps people regain control of their finances and move forward with confidence.

📍 Hybrid working
⏰ 36.5 hours per week (full-time)
💷 £28,090 - £32,322 per annum (pro rata for part-time hours), depending on experience
🏖️ 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 30 days with service

A big thank you to Roger Harmer, Leader of Birmingham City Council, and Tim Savill, Assistant Director, Revenues, Benefits and Rents for visiting Citizens Advice Birmingham today.
It was a fantastic opportunity to talk about the real issues affecting people across our city and to showcase the dedication of our teams who work tirelessly to provide free, independent and impartial advice.
Strong partnerships are essential to creating a city where everyone can access the support they need, when they need it most. We appreciate the opportunity to share our work and discuss how we can continue making a positive difference for Birmingham residents.

Today, our CEO Kelly Danks visited Help Harry Help Others Cancer Charity to discuss our new partnership, focused on ensuring that people affected by cancer have access to the advice, support, and guidance they need, when they need it most.
It was a valuable opportunity to explore how we will work together to make a real difference for those facing some of life's toughest challenges.
As an unexpected bonus, our CEO discovered that HHHO is home to the very nursery school she attended many years ago. A wonderful reminder of how full circle a journey can come.

Citizens Advice Birmingham is looking for new Trustees to join our Board and help guide one of Birmingham's most established and respected charities.
As a Trustee, you'll play a key role in providing strategic leadership, supporting effective governance, and helping us continue to deliver life-changing advice and support to people across Birmingham.
We're particularly keen to hear from individuals with experience in:
✅ Legal & Governance
✅ Digital & Technology
✅ Communications
✅ Research & Campaigning
Previous trustee experience is welcome, but not essential. We value diverse perspectives and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds who share our commitment to empowering individuals and strengthening communities.
Time Commitment
📍 Minimum of 4 in-person Board meetings per year (usually held after 5pm to accommodate work commitments)
📍 1 Trustee Away Day per year (Saturday)
📍 Annual General Meeting (AGM) once a year, usually in November after 5pm
📍 Quarterly Committee meetings (minimum 1 hour, usually after 5pm)
📍 Mandatory training (minimum 3 hours per year)

✨ We had a fantastic time at the Partnership Community Health & Wellness Day, hosted by OSCAR Birmingham at the beautiful Soho House Museum!
It was amazing to see people living with sickle cell and their carers taking time to relax and recharge in the wellbeing zone 💆🏾‍♀️ From health checks to massages and a shared meal, the day was all about supporting both physical and mental wellbeing.
Afterwards, we had some great conversations with attendees about how our West Midlands Sickle Cell and Thalassemia Welfare Adviser Project can support them—whether that’s with housing, finances, or navigating everyday challenges.
Events like this remind us how important it is to create safe, supportive spaces where people feel heard, empowered, and connected ❤️

We were honoured to speak at the NHS Sickle Cell Education Day for the West Midlands & East Midlands Network in Burton 💜
We shared the impact of our West Midlands Sickle Cell and Thalassemia Welfare Adviser Project, highlighting the difference we’ve made over the past 18 months.
A standout moment was sharing a real patient story—supporting someone through a complex housing issue—showing how vital welfare advice is in tackling the wider challenges people face and creating life-changing outcomes.
Great to connect with healthcare professionals and continue building strong partnerships across the region 🤝
