Today marks the start of Learning Disability Week and this year's theme is Do You See Me?

Everyone deserves to be recognised for who they are β€” their personality, talents, achievements and dreams.

Throughout the week we'll be sharing stories from people we support and exploring what it means to be truly seen, heard and valued.

We hope you'll join us in celebrating individuality, inclusion and belonging.

πŸ’œπŸŒŸ Learning Disability Week at SoLO πŸŒŸπŸ’œ

We're excited to be celebrating **Learning Disability Week** with a fantastic range of activities and events across SoLO!

This year's theme, "Do You See Me?", is all about ensuring people with learning disabilities are seen, heard and valued for who they are.

Throughout the week, our Daylight North and Daylight South services will be taking part in fun activities, while our social programme includes special events such as the SoLO Rainbow Disco, celebrating Pride Month and individuality, and the SoLO Social Party, with karaoke, music, dancing and a brightly coloured dress theme!

Every event helps bring people together, raise awareness and support SoLO's work with people with learning disabilities.

🎭 What a fantastic day out at the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham to see Annie! ✨

Our Community PA and Service User had an absolute blast, enjoying plenty of laughs, dancing in their seats, and singing along to all the classic songs. 🎢

The highlight of the day? Meeting the one and only Miss Hannigan herself, La Voix, star of RuPaul's Drag Race UK and Strictly Come Dancing! πŸ’ƒπŸ•Ί

It was a day full of smiles, memories, and show-stopping fun. ❀️

Today is Global Accessibility Awareness Day; a reminder that accessibility is not an extra - It is essential.

For people with learning disabilities, barriers can show up everywhere: in websites, information, environments, and systems not designed with everyone in mind. True accessibility is about the right support, clear information, and equal access so every person can take part fully, confidently, and independently.

At SoLO, we believe inclusion and accessibility belong together. With compassionate and understanding support, people are given the space to connect and grow in confidence. We believe everyone should feel comfortable being themselves and valued for who they are. Our support helps people live the life they choose.

Whether through supported living, community experiences, or daily interactions, accessibility opens the door to connection, independence, and real opportunity.

Let’s keep building a world designed for everyone.
