The city has a growing need for social housing yet our council regularly approves planning for homes without any social homes provision. Enough is enough.

After some consultation between branch members it was agreed to support and add our logo to this event on Birmingham Councils practices on housing.
Tenants are being excluded from decision making concerning their areas and the council are signing off to allow seemingly unlimited building of investment flats.
We need council housing with rents that people can afford. We need renovation and insulation of existing properties to reduce carbon emissions and heating costs.
Support the protest - get involved in campaigning.

The Round the Reservoir Funday is a celebration of our local nature reserve, Edgbaston Reservoir, for all the family. It is an ERCO-organised event but will bring together lots of different local groups, organisations and individuals. Many people in Birmingham may not know that as part of Birmingham City Council's sale of the Tower Ballroom site, they are including the section of the reservoir pathway which goes alongside the site.

This is not a political event, but is a powerful celebration of the space as a local nature reserve freely available and accessible to all, as the reservoir is a space we all feel welcome. The activities at Round the Reservoir aim to reflect some of the many ways that we, as a community, use the space. There will be a Sofunk dance workshop, yoga sessions, art workshops, a photography walk, a fungi walk, alpacas, a face painter, a chin up competition , a bee trail, a reading snug, lots of sporty activities and lots more.

At 3.15pm there's an opportunity to be a part of history, as we gather around the reservoir's 2.5km pathway to create a continuous circuit of people, with drone footage ensuring we capture this powerful moment!

Is this ambitious? Yes! Do we believe it's possible? With your presence and support, absolutely! See you there!

Sadly, just another example of our city's planning department failing its citizens through a complete lack of meaningful engagement. If there's any way you can support the people of Ladywood from having their homes demolished, please do go along to this and offer your help. Together, we CAN change the culture within our council.
