Really grateful to Isaiahโs Wish CIC for this lovely recognition of Foundation 2 Change ๐
It means a lot to have our work, our team and the power of lived experience recognised in this way.
We also want to highlight the important work Isaiahโs Wish CIC is doing โ their service is genuinely needed, and weโre proud to be connected with them.
Thank you for being part of our Recovery Reunion and for sharing what the day meant to you. ๐๐
๐ SPACE AT THE TABLE SPOTLIGHT: FOUNDATION 2 CHANGE ๐
For our first Space at the Table Spotlight, we are recognising Foundation 2 Changeโa grassroots, lived-experience organisation based in Birmingham and led by Andy and Jay.
Isaiahโs Wish CIC recently had the privilege of attending their Recovery Reunion, and what we witnessed was far more than an event. It was a genuine celebration of recovery, connection, second chances and the strength found within community.
The reunion acknowledged the realities of addiction without allowing those realities to become the whole story.
There was space for honesty about the past, space for families affected by addiction, space for different pathways of recovery and, most importantly, space to celebrate every person who had walked through those doors and continued choosing recovery one day at a time.
The guest speakers shared openly about their struggles, their recovery journeys and the people and services that helped them along the way. One particularly powerful moment was seeing a gentleman whom Foundation 2 Change had previously supported to access rehabilitation standing in that same room and sharing his progress.
It demonstrated something that can sometimes become lost within targets, referrals and service outcomes: behind every successful intervention is a human being whose life, relationships and future may have been changed.
What stood out to us
Foundation 2 Change does not appear to treat lived experience as an additional feature of its work. It sits at the heart of how people are welcomed, understood and supported.
Their approach showed the importance of:
โข Meeting people without shame or judgement
โข Recognising families as part of the recovery journey
โข Respecting different pathways into and through recovery
โข Creating opportunities for people to be seen beyond their past
โข Building services and communities around connection, dignity and hope
The event was celebratory while remaining honest, family-focused and sensitive to the experiences people carried into the room.
What can others learn?
Lived experience brings a depth of understanding that cannot be gained through professional training aloneโbut its greatest impact is realised when it is valued, supported and given the resources to create change.
Foundation 2 Change reminds us that second chances should be more than a statement. They should be visible in the opportunities, relationships and practical support we create for people.
We are proud to recognise the work of Andy, Jay and the wider Foundation 2 Change community.
Thank you for creating a space where recovery was not simply discussedโit was witnessed, celebrated and made possible.
There is space at the table for everyone. ๐
