Our HAF session, funded by Bring it on Brum, last week saw 69 of us heading off for a fantastic day at Dudley Zoo.

We spent the day exploring everything the zoo had to offer. Some enjoyed the play areas and fun fair, while others climbed to the top of the castle. Some preferred to stay on the ground and take in the impressive falcon displays. Everyone was able to explore at their own pace โ€” some lasted longer than others, but every child had the opportunity to try different activities, knowing they were surrounded by others who understood and supported them.

A massive shout-out to Dudley Zoo for the work they do to make their venue more accessible and inclusive. They have communication boards dotted around the zoo, a social story that can be used to prepare for your visit, and sensory bags available to hire, including ear defenders and fidget items. Mobility scooters and wheelchairs are also available.

We visit lots of different places with our families, and it's always brilliant to find those hidden gems that genuinely make an effort to be more accessible. These little touches can make such a huge difference to families like ours, helping everyone feel welcome, supported and able to enjoy the experience in their own way.

Our The National Lottery Community Fund funded sessions last week gave our young people the opportunity to take part in two very different activities.

We started with a wonderfully relaxed and creative session with , where the young people got hands-on with clay. It was great to see them exploring their creativity, experimenting with different shapes and ideas, and simply enjoying the process of making something with their own hands. Our parents got creative too, with birds, bees and planets being created by the big kids. It was lovely to see everyone getting involved and enjoying the opportunity to be creative together.

On Thursday, we got physical! We had two groups going head-to-head in some exciting Nerf battles. We know that competitive games can sometimes be challenging for our children, so we placed the emphasis firmly on participation, teamwork and having fun.

There was plenty of energy burnt off, lots of laughter and, most importantly, a great time was had by everyone who joined in.

We're over halfway through the holidays, but we're definitely not slowing down with the activities!

By this point in the summer, we know many parents just need to be around people who truly get itโ€”a chance to chat, connect, or simply just be, while their young person enjoys activities in a way that works for them.

Our sessions are designed to be flexible, welcoming, and pressure-free, so everyone can enjoy the holidays in a way that feels right for them. We can't wait to see you at our upcoming activities!

Last week, we were delighted to welcome some familiar faces back to Maple House School to facilitate our National Lottery Community Fund and Bring It On Brum sessions.

We were joined by Open Theatre Company for an engaging non-verbal theatre session, Artsencrafts for a fantastic superhero-themed craft activity, and Beyond Boundaries Birmingham CIC for an energetic sports and games session.

Each activity gave our young people the opportunity to engage in ways that worked best for them, with the flexibility to step away when needed and return when they were ready. This inclusive approach helped everyone get the most out of the experiences on offer.

A huge thank you to all our partners for delivering such creative, accessible, and enjoyable sessions. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

In all the fun, we forgot to tell you just how many play spaces we created for SEN young people through our holiday programme! ๐ŸŒŸ

During Week 1, we also supported the wider SEN community at Northfield Beach, welcoming many more children, young people and families throughout the day. Those additional attendees aren't even included in these numbers!

Our team is incredibly proud to be creating safe, inclusive and enjoyable opportunities for SEN young people to play, socialise and make memories over the summer holidays. ๐Ÿ’™

Week 2 is here! ๐Ÿ’™

Another busy week ahead for our families, packed with exciting activities and opportunities to get involved in.

This week includes a mix of HAF, fully funded, and self-funded sessions, giving families plenty of options to choose from.
We pride ourselves on providing a wide variety of opportunities because our children deserve the same chances, experiences, and opportunities as every other child.

We can't wait to see you all this week! ๐ŸŒŸ

In addition to our other week 1 activities we also got out and about in our community and spent lots of time with our friends at other events over the course of the week.

We took 25 young people to revolutiongymnasticsclub, we also had 2 exclusive slots for our families on the toboggan slope at ackersadventure . Finally, we joined in the annual launch of Northfield Beach with their SEN day. Thank you to Northfield Community Partnership for inviting us to join in the day.

We set up with our sensory play station which saw the young people who joined us have the chance to play and explore textures at their own pace. It was great to catch up with familiar faces and meet new families

Week 1 Done !
A great start to the week with coming to join us to make scone based pizzas, we different shaped bases and lots of different topping including pineapple ๐Ÿ Does it belong on a pizza ? I'm a solid yes as were lots of out young people.

Followed later in the week by a Gaming session with where 10 young people at a time gamed alongside peers, chatting about which games were being played and even playing with each other.

We are very grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for funding these sessions.
