🌟Meet the Educator 🌟

We’re really pleased to share that we now have 8 education providers confirmed for our upcoming Meet the Educator event. This includes a mix of mainstream, specialist, independent, LA, tutors, primary, secondary and further education; all coming together to support families who are exploring next steps.

A parent shared this with us recently, and it perfectly captures why this event is so needed:

“I would like to talk to the providers. I’m completely overwhelmed at the moment and don’t know where to start. Also, finding time to prioritise this as a lone working parent with a son who’s struggling with school attendance is a nightmare. Being able to go to an event with multiple providers in one room would be amazing. Such a fantastic idea.”

For families who are feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or simply too stretched to arrange multiple school visits, this event creates a calm, accessible space to start those conversations.

We fully recognise how busy educators are and how precious their time is. Our aim is to make this process easier by helping families gather the information they need early on. We hope the event helps reduce pressure on open days and helps to reduce demand on already stretched schedules.

If you're an educator and would like to reserve a table or find out more, pop us a message.

Our final event of Carers week last night with our Dads Group meeting at Rowheath Pavillion for a relaxed evening.
They were treated to the delights of Dutch Mini Pancakes UK which is ran by one of our Dads.
They all also will receive a male carers well-being pack courtesy of loucooper82 who is one of our moms
We are so grateful to be supported by our community for the benefit of others and in recognition of their contribution as carers.

Good Luck to 2 of our young people today as they take on the Wolf Run !
If you’d like to get behind them please do so here !
Good Luck guys 🏃🏃‍♀️🐺

Two of our service users are completing the Wolf run on 14th June 2026 and despite the challenge of mud, obstacles and a 5k course in front of them they have decided they want to support us by raising money for us !

We are so grateful of the support and hope people can get behind them

🌸Carers Week - Petals of Identity🌸

As part of Carers Week, our parent / carers took part in Petals of Identity, a beautiful community legacy project delivered with thanks to Shenley Court Hall for funding our session as part of the city wide initiative by Healing Arts Birmingham.

Together, our parents and carers designed and stitched their own fabric petals. For some, the idea of using a sewing machine felt daunting, but every single person gave it a go and created at least one petal. The room was full of encouragement, and that unmistakable “we’re in this together” energy that makes our community what it is.

Each individual petal will now become part of a larger flower installation for the Healing Arts Art Trail Exhibition, celebrating the diversity, creativity, and voices of our community. After the exhibition, the petals will be permanently displayed at the Community Centre as a lasting legacy of the people who made them.

To top it off, our parent / carers also received some gorgeous goodies from LUSH who generously donated products for Carers Week, this giving the opportunity to pamper themselves at home!

Thank you to everyone who joined us, tried something new and added their contribution to this beautiful project ❤

Yesterday was Day 2 of our carers week events which saw us come together for an evening meal Paul at no 41 in Harborne

The venue hosted us exclusively and fully funded the event for parents and carers of SEND young people to share a meal together, to chat and create a space where parents can relate to one another, share experiences and connect with each other socially. Thank you Paul for your hospitality and generosity.

Every attendee received a pamper bag courtesy of loucooper82 - Sen mom and leader of https://www.farmasi.co.uk/louisecooper
The men were not left out with a male carers pamper bag too !

Another special treat was every attendee received a copy of SEN super mom by SEN Super Mom - Chantelle Carlina one of our parent carers who is an author helping others by sharing her story

We had a couple of camera shy attendees but all are in agreement that a parents evening meet up is key for those carers who lack the opportunity to connect with others due to work commitments so we hope to be able to arrange something again in the future.

Our Coffee Morning last week at the wonderful The Two Mugs brought parent carers together for a much‑needed catch‑up! The wins, the worries, and the everyday realities of navigating the SEND world.

We were also pleased to welcome Anna, the Strategic Autism Lead for SEND and Inclusion Services at the Local Authority. Anna introduced some of the work she is leading on the Ordinarily Available Guidance, explaining how it sets out what schools should be providing as standard for those with additional needs. She shared how this looks in practice and families were able to reflect on where this is working well and where the gap between guidance and lived experience still shows.

It was lovely to attend the SEND Drop In session at Oddingley Hall yesterday. It’s so encouraging to see these events taking place, giving families information about the support available and offering the vital connection so many of us need. Sessions like this make a real difference to SEND families across our community. An added bonus is the opportunity to network and catch up with other providers who are working hard to support the same families ❤

Today was our first event of carers week with our MOOS group !

Our out of schoolers were given the task of choosing what their parents / carers would like, preparing it and serving it to their adult as part of an afternoon tea. Thank you to our supporter who made a donation to cover the cost of the afternoon teas.

In addition to the afternoon tea our parent carer attendees received a well-being pamper pack donated by another parent carer and supporter of ours loucooper82

She used products from her business to make up packs for our parents at events across the week.
Her business page detailing her products is https://www.farmasi.co.uk/louisecooper

Thank you to everyone who has got behind our events this week. We hope all our parents and carers feel celebrated and appreciated.

And that’s a wrap on Volunteers week 2026 !
SEND Socials Birmingham CIC has been built on the contribution of volunteers. Our volunteers give so much to our organisation, without them we wouldn't be able to do what we do.

But as Volunteers' Week comes to an end, we'd like to thank our volunteers again for all they do and will continue to recognise and celebrate their contribution throughout the year.
