The Start
How many of us can pop out for a coffee, or a pint. A game of darts or shoot some pool? How many of us can’t? I have been working in additional needs education for a few years now and volunteer for numerous charities usually based around Autism Spectrum Condition but not exclusively. Over they years I have noticed that groups for whatever reason seem to be segregated between people. I want to change that, hence INC.
It is my hope that we can bring together all people of the community in an inclusive, every day setting to the best of our abilities. I want to be able to have people who are on the spectrum or have social difficulties interact in an environment that they may not take for granted with people whom they may not usually interact with.
At the start this would be people over the age of 18, but if we have demand we could change that (risk assessment and DBS etc} As for who would run this. Well, my name is Drew, I’ve been working in education and I specialize in social skills and mentoring. I am fully DBS checked and very experienced in working with people who have social anxiety, ASC and various different conditions. I’m also on the spectrum and have suffered with social anxiety.
What would we offer? As above. Things that a lot of people take for granted. I would also like to set up sports teams, groups. My first team I would like to set up is a darts team, or group. In the future I would also like to set up a Dad’s group. I see a lot of support for Mom’s out there which is amazing, but you know, Dad’s need help too, and we need to move away from macho stigma.
