moto gymkhana uk west midlands is the Birmingham based arm of the motogymkhana association of great Britain. we provide local information to members and interested motorcyclists by providing assistance for development and a place to meet on line and to to practice

We are also instrumental in the running of the national motogymkhana championships. These are the best value championship in the UK pr

oviding real grass roots motor sport to any motorcyclist on any road based motorcycle. from a cbt holder to a die hard racer

The Moto Gymkhana Association was founded in 2011 following our visit to Japan – we are now working hard to establish Moto Gymkhana as a worldwide phenomenon. MGA is your first point of call for everything to do with the sport in the UK & Europe.Moto Gymkhana combines ‘Moto’ – shorthand for motorbike, with ‘Gymkhana’ an event consisting of speed pattern racing and timed games for riders, traditionally on horseback. Moto Gymkhana began in Japan over 40 years ago, with motorcyclists getting together to enjoy informal and fun competitions between themselves. Motorcycle dealers and manufacturers caught on to the idea, holding competitions to advertise and promote their products and have fun with their clients. Moto Gymkhana competitions have changed dramatically since their outset, moving from manufacturer/dealer led, to rider led events open to any make of motorcycle. Along with the fun of the competition, Moto Gymkhana also is also a sport built on friendship and camaraderie. It’s a relatively safe sport – bumps and bruises are usually the worst injury and even these are rare due to the low speeds. The Editor of Performance Bikes called it “the most insane, non-lethal motorcycle sport” – what more could you want?

🏍🏍WOMEN IN MOTO SHOW 2026🏍🏍

We're so pleased to announce that Women in Moto will be on the 22nd and 23rd August, with camping available from Friday the 21st! Early bird tickets go on sale tomorrow evening at www.womenmoto.co.uk 🤟

A new addition for 2026, the Friday evening will be a chilled one by our new campfire with the bar open for drinks. Following feedback from attendees of previous years, everyone prefers to use the Friday night as a catch-up session for friends who you might not have seen since WIM last year. It's also a great way to meet new people in a relaxed atmosphere, especially if you are travelling solo. Acoustic instruments welcome. Our 2026 logo by Lianne at Here we ride reflects this new feature, plus as we enter the year of the Fire Horse it seems appropriate!

Campers will also be pleased to know that we will have showers this year! We've managed to get these open for a better price, so there will be a small addition to the cost of the ticket but well worth it for that steamy hot fresh water!

Plenty to come for this event over the next few months to bring you the best show yet ❤

Moto Gymkhana West Midlands has drawn the curtains on 2025. Sorry, but that’s all folks… till next year.

Our last event was held at our home-from-home at the JTC Ripley, courtesy of those excellent guys from UpRight Derbyshire.
This time it was the turn of Nottingham Advanced Motorcyclists (IAM) to give Moto Gymkhana a whirl. And didn’t they have fun! Everyone just kept coming back for more and it easy to see they all improved their bike handling skills. Thank you for NAM for giving Moto Gymkhana a serious try-out and all of the positive feedback.

For next year, Moto Gymkhana West Midlands will be returning to the fold providing miles of smiles, we’ve received confirmation we will be collaborating with Derbyshire Biker Down & BikeSafe for a number of events. Some at the JTC, and a few others either at Derby or Staveley. At the moment, there is only the agreement, so no dates… as yet.

I’m sure we’ll be supporting Women in Moto again as well as various IAM/RoSPA clubs. MCN & BMF events are complete unknowns… so far.

Then for those who fancy a bit of international flavour, the 12th Moto Gymkhana European championships is expected to be hosted by Belgium.

More details for 2026 will be posted when they’re finalised.

Thank you to everyone that came and rode their little socks off. Your participation and support has been wonderful.

Brilliant day at the Joint Training Centre (Ripley) helping people young an old how to ride Motogymkhana.
Some have been before, but most were new to this great little sport.
Big thanks to UpRight Derbyshire for organising our visit & even managed to book in excellent weather.

We gave them the usual MG exercises GP8, slaloms, etc and all riders showed great improvement.
Plus miles of smiles.

Now looking forward to the next one.

Women in Moto 25.

What a brilliant way to spend the weekend; glorious sunshine, riding bikes & bringing the world of MotoGymkhana to the great British public.

Among the numerous activities, talks, demonstrations, MotoGymkhana took centre-stage. Well we did have the arena almost the whole time. Only vacating the stage for the self-taught & talented Rocky Runt Rider showing her skills on her Grom.

There was no shortage of takers to try MotoGymkhana either, some more than once (or twice :) ). All we had to do was fit them in!
Everyone had so much fun, but I definitely needed a rest afterwards.

A HUGE thank you to all the people (old & new) who came to help us run our little show, from admin, to riders, to mentors & sorting out cuppas! They came from all over including Essex, Tewkesbury & Darlington. Thank you so much.

Next up will be the MCN 70th Birthday Bash at the National Motorcycle Museum on 7th September.
See you there!

Another day. Another Moto Gymkhana at JTC Ripley.

Many thanks to UpRight Derbyshire for hosting the event at the Joint Training Centre near Derby. Shame they failed with the weather though 😊

BUT for the brave souls who braved the elements, it was a very instructional day. I mean how often do people get the opportunity to learn about bike handling skills in the wet? And boy, was it wet!

An intense day of riding in some pretty awful conditions brought new skills to so many. It was inspiring to see everyone get more and more confidence with soaking wet tarmac & tyres. Like the great Duncan Mac would say “the tyres don’t know it’s wet”. And so everyone found out.

Of course, it will take days for everything to dry out, but so worth it.
HUGE thanks to John & Christine Fletcher who travelled down from Darlington to help run the show. And Heather Batson, who rode up from Tewksbury – big hugs.

Next outing is next month at Women in Moto (Uttoxeter racecourse) 16th & 17th August. See you there.
