Community Fridge Volunteers Needed

We’re looking for a few more volunteers to help keep the fridge full and running smoothly.

Moseley Community Fridge rescues surplus food from local suppliers and makes it freely available to anyone who needs it — no referrals, no questions, no stigma.

Could you spare a few hours a month? We have flexible roles available, including:

Thursday fridge volunteers — 11am–1pm, welcoming people, keeping the fridge tidy and helping distribute food.

Pick-up drivers — using a car or bike with a trailer to collect surplus food. Slots are Sunday 5pm, Tuesday 8:30pm, Wednesday 10am–1pm or Wednesday 8:30pm.

Food network support — help us build relationships with local suppliers and bring more surplus food into the fridge.

You’ll get a proper induction, a buddy on your first shifts and food hygiene training. And if you can only do one slot a month, that still makes a real difference.

Charity coffee morning for cancer support

Friday 23rd October, Moseley Hive, 09:30-11:00am

On Friday 23rd October, our community will come together for something bigger than coffee and cake.

We will gather to support people living with cancer in both the UK and Ukraine, while honouring the memory of our dear colleague and friend, Nataliia Dmitriieva, who sadly lost her battle with breast cancer earlier this year.

Cancer does not recognise borders, languages or backgrounds. It changes lives instantly. Behind every diagnosis is a person, a family, a story and a future that deserves hope.

That is why we are bringing together Macmillan Cancer Support, Mission Kharkiv and the wider community for a special Coffee Morning at Moseley Hive.

Every slice of cake sold and every pound donated will help provide support, care, and hope for people affected by cancer and their families.

All cash donations collected during the event will be split equally between Mission Kharkiv and Macmillan Cancer Support. Alternatively, online donations can be made directly to the organisation you would like to support, or you may choose to donate to both.

Join us for coffee and conversation.
Donate a cake for us to sell.
Make a donation if you cannot attend.

Together we can make a difference to people facing one of the hardest journeys of their lives.

Because nobody should face cancer alone.

Birmingham Open Studios – 26–27 September & 3–4 October
Birmingham’s biggest art trail returns this month!
Birmingham Open Studios is a fantastic opportunity to get behind the closed doors of the city’s artists, meet makers in their creative environments and discover the people making art across Birmingham.
With 161 artists and groups across 84 locations, the event is free and family-friendly.
26–27 September & 3–4 October
11am–5pm each day

Moseley Hive’s Swap Shop is coming to the MAC!

Refresh your wardrobe and toy collection without spending a penny at a special edition of Moseley Hive’s Swap Shop, as part of the MAC’s Big Green Weekender.

11am - 2pm | Deloitte Room | Free, drop-in

Here’s how it works:
Bring up to 10 clean clothing items, accessories or toys in good condition.
Receive a token for each item you donate.
Exchange your tokens for pre-loved fashion finds.

It’s a fun, sustainable way to update your wardrobe, reduce waste, and discover something new.

Volunteers Needed for Moseley Hive Swap Shop
Could you spare a couple of hours to help at Moseley Hive Swap Shop?
We’re looking for friendly volunteers to help welcome visitors, sort and display clothes, manage tokens and keep everything running smoothly. It’s a great way to support sustainable fashion, reduce waste and help people refresh their wardrobes for free.
The Swap Shop runs from 11am–1pm on the following Saturdays in 2026:

The Moseley Community Card is still here, and there’s still time to get involved.
You can pick up a card from Moseley Exchange or any of the participating businesses.
Collect 10 different stamps from 10 different Moseley businesses to complete your card and be entered into our prize draw.
You can collect stamps from participating businesses:
Elysiaan Cafe, Maison Mayci, Moseley Haven, Sapore Italiano, The Cuban Embassy, Sabai Sabai, Guthrie & Ghani, Rice Chamberlains, Beausthetic Hair & Beauty, Greek Aura, BPM Cafe, Dough and Fire, and Halawaat.
Once your card is complete, return it to Moseley Exchange to enter the draw and be in with a chance of winning one of our fantastic prizes, including a GRAND PRIZE worth over £500.
Prizes include vouchers to spend at local favourites such as £80 at Chakana, £50 at Moseley Haven, £40 at Zindiya and many more.
Don’t miss out — completed loyalty cards must be returned to Moseley Exchange by 31 August to be entered into the prize draw.

Saturday 18 July | 11am–3pm
Join us for a FREE Family Fun Day! Enjoy live entertainment, music, children’s activities, face painting, balloon modelling, mosaic making, train-themed fun, family sewing with Guthrie & Ghani, postcard making with a local artist at Mason Mayci, and a treasure hunt around Moseley with a prize for everyone who completes it!
At St Mary’s Church, visit our Platform for Community featuring local organisations including the Moseley Society, Better Streets for Birmingham and Crafting Conversations, alongside community stalls open from 11:00am
Make a day of it by visiting Moseley Park & Pool, open to the public from 10am–4pm.
