It's the first one of the new Triennium and we'd love to see you there!

A representative from Women's Aid will attend the meeting to give a short presentation and to collect any craft items for donation.

There will also be updates from the Diocesan President and Treasurer, and plenty of opportunity to discuss MU matters with friends and representatives from branches across the diocese

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Souls of Our Shoes - an exhibition by Birmingham Mothers' Union

12-22nd March at St Martin in the Bull Ring

An exhibition showcasing shoes that speak on behalf of victims of domestic abuse and violence

The physical shoes in the 'Souls of our Shoes' exhibition are accompanied by comments from those that have walked away from abuse, and those who journey with them

The exhibition is free to all (check St Martins website for their opening times), and is part of MU’s mission to highlight abuse, and the practical and prayerful support we offer to families. It is a reminder that with timely help, many can escape from their abusive situations, rebuild their confidence and live in safety.

What impact does Mothers' Union have on our communities?

Find out by watching our impact video. First shown at the 2023 annual gathering, it shows just how many lives and communities across the globe were touched by MU in 2022 alone.

The work we do - that YOU do - in its many and varied forms, matters more than you will ever know.

The impact video shared at Mothers' Union Annual Gathering in York 2023.

Pat Laws left a generous legacy to help MU branches in Birmingham support projects and initiatives that further MU's aims and objectives.

Castle Bromwich MU used their Pat Law grant to help a local playscheme replace their toys!

Here's their story....

"In October, our new rector Rev'd Fiona told us all about Hope on Smiths Wood Rainbows Stay and Play group, and how they were struggling to get funding for replacement toys.

We immediately put in a request for help with funding, the wheels turned fast, forms were filled in, funds were agreed and items bought. Mothers’ Union working at its very best.

In November, we were able to present to Jo from Rainbows Stay and Play with the items they requested, which included a much-needed sensory tent.

It was a joy that we were able to help this little group in our local community and it also gave us encouragement as a group to share what we as the Mothers’ Union stand for in helping them build a future where children thrive and can share fun and joy with each other, we hope to continue to have contact with them and offer other support when needed."

Other branches have used their grants to purchase materials for knitting projects, and to launch baby box schemes for local new mothers in need.

If your branch would like to apply to the fund, please contact the office on [email protected] for an application form!

Our Story

We are a movement of over four million Christians in 84 countries worldwide. Mothers' Union is unique because our members work as volunteers in local communities, putting their faith into action by acts great and small, giving individuals in need a helping hand and enabling communities (of all faiths and none) to have the confidence and skills to transform their livesin a sustainable way.

The movement was started in 1876 by Mary Sumner to support mothers as they brought up their children as Christians.
