Summer holidays are nearly over, and we know it’s not just the kids feeling it. Here are 3 ways to help make the transition back to school a little smoother:

Reset the routine early. Start shifting bedtimes and wake-up times back a week or so before term starts, rather than on day one. It gives their body clock time to catch up without the shock.

Talk about it before they have to live it. Ask what they’re looking forward to and what’s worrying them. Naming a nervous feeling out loud usually makes it smaller, and it shows them you’re someone they can bring worries to all year.

Sort the practical stuff together. Uniform, bag, timetable, whatever’s needed, get it ready with them rather than for them. A bit of ownership over the small things builds real confidence for the bigger first-day nerves.

Foundations4TheFuture CIC is looking for a confident and experienced individual to manage an inclusion room within a school. You’ll support young people, manage challenging behaviour and maintain a calm, structured environment.

Applicants must have experience working with young people and be confident managing behaviour independently. An enhanced DBS is required, or you must be willing to obtain one.

Benefits include a paid lunch break, school holidays, training, mentoring and progression opportunities.

🌟 Mentor of the Term – Celebrating Dedication, Growth and Impact

We are incredibly proud to recognise Aaliyah as the first recipient of our new Mentor of the Term Award! (Term 2) 🎊

This initiative celebrates team members who consistently go above and beyond in supporting young people through our Impact Mentoring Programme, demonstrating exceptional commitment, professionalism and dedication. Recipients embody our values by making a lasting difference in the lives of young people, being reliable members of staff, always showing up, following processes correctly and setting the standard for others.

Today, Aaliyah was presented with her £50 voucher by our Operations Manager Nathan in recognition of her outstanding contribution to young people and our wider social mission.

What makes this achievement even more special is Aaliyah's journey with us. Just four years ago, she was a Year 11 student at The Royal Sutton School that we worked with on our impact mentoring programme, also attending our youth club as a young person accessing support. After leaving college early, she completed an internship with us before progressing onto a Level 3 apprenticeship, which she has recently successfully completed.

Today, Aaliyah is a valued full time member of our team, delivering mentoring interventions across four schools across Birmingham, helping young people navigate challenges, build confidence and achieve their potential.

Aaliyah's story is a powerful reminder of what is possible when young people are given the right opportunities, encouragement and pathways to suceed. She has gone from being supported by our services to delivering our services, becoming an integral part of our team supporting the next generation of young people.

Congratulations, Aaliyah! Thank you for your passion, commitment and the positive impact you continue to make every day. 💙

We are incredibly proud of our primary school mentees who have worked extremely hard to achieve the goals and targets they set alongside their Foundations4TheFuture mentors.

From building confidence to improving academically and believing in their own potential, each achievement represents dedication, resilience, and a willingness to improve. 💫

They have shown that when young people are supported, encouraged, and empowered, they can accomplish amazing things and we are proud of the hard work they have put in to reach their targets 🎯

A big thank you to our Lead Primary Mentor Sara Foundations for her commitment & guidance to the young people she engages with, leading to positive outcomes like these! Together, we are helping to build brighter futures and inspiring the next generation to dream big and achieve even bigger!

Recently our Managing Director Aaron sat down with Cameron Parker on the to talk about behaviour, exclusions, mentoring and what real inclusion should look like in education.

In this episode we discussed:
⚠️ Exclusions and meaningful reintegration
🤝 Accountability with support and high expectations
🏫 Building inclusive school cultures
🧠 The impact of relationships and consistency
📈 Supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged young people properly

Too often we focus on behaviour without understanding the experiences and challenges behind it. Exclusion should never be the end of a young person’s story. The real work is in reintegration, relationships and creating environments where young people feel seen, supported and challenged to succeed.

📹 We are proud to share a glimpse into the incredible partnership developed between ourselves and .. a collaboration built on empowerment, opportunity, and a shared commitment to developing young people.

⚠️ Since the start of our partnership in 2022, we have supported over 100 students through our Impact Mentoring Programme working closely with the senior leadership and pastoral team to create a holistic support package that we are both committed to, building confidence, resilience, aspiration, and emotional wellbeing for students both inside and outside the classroom.

Here we capture the school’s thoughts on us an organisation, why they continue to buy into our services 4 years later and the impact our team have had on the students they engage with. You’ll also hear directly from some students about their experience working with our team and the positive influence the Impact Mentoring Programme has had on them as students over the course of this year 👏🏼

Stay consistent. Stay patient. Don’t let the delay discourage your efforts. The impact is coming. 💛
