Brave, not fearless. That’s this week’s thought.

Bravery doesn’t mean a young person isn’t scared. It means they walk into the new classroom anyway. They ask for help even when it feels easier not to. They try again after getting something wrong, even when it stung the first time.

That’s real bravery, and it’s happening quietly, all around us, every single day. This week, take a moment to notice it in the young people you work with, and actually tell them you saw it. Sometimes that’s all the encouragement someone needs to keep going.

Every future deserves a strong foundation, and courage is one of the strongest ones we can help build.

🌱 From Mentee to Mentor

Last week, our Lead Impact Mentor, Aaliyah, was at Lift Greenwood to kick off our Peer Mentoring Programme for the third year running.

What made the session particularly meaningful was Aaliyah being able to share her own journey with this year’s candidates.

Having started with us as a mentee, Aaliyah has progressed to become a mentor and now Lead Impact Mentor, alongside completing her apprenticeship. She was able to give the candidates a real-life example of where taking that first step can lead.

Aaliyah spoke about how the Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Programme gives young people the opportunity to develop their confidence, communication and leadership skills, while gaining valuable experience supporting their peers.

For those interested in a future working with young people, mentoring, education or youth work, the programme can be a great place to start.

Three years into our partnership with Lift Greenwood, we’re excited to welcome another group of young people ready to begin their own mentoring journey. 🙌

Small steps, big difference. This week, that’s the thought we’re sitting with.

Not every change happens overnight, and it doesn’t need to. A kind word at the right moment. A few extra minutes of patience. Real encouragement instead of a quick fix. These are small, ordinary things, but for a child who’s struggling, they add up to something much bigger.

You don’t need a grand plan to make a difference this week. Just notice the small moments, and take them.

Every future deserves a strong foundation, and foundations are built one small step at a time.

New week, same promise: every child deserves to feel seen, heard and supported, not just some weeks, but every week.

However last week went for the children and young people we work with, this one is a clean slate. A little consistency goes further than we often realise. A familiar face who remembers what they said last time. A routine that doesn’t change even when everything else feels uncertain. Someone checking in, not because something went wrong, but just because.

That is the promise we try to keep every Monday. Not grand gestures, just showing up, again and again, so young people know they can count on us.

Every future deserves a strong foundation, and it starts with the small things we do consistently.
