Today we visited Ian Andrews studio at Telsen Centre for a sneak peek of “The Sketchbook and the Collider” — a fascinating exhibition drawing links between fine art and particle physics, developed with Prof. Kostas Nikolopoulos. 🎨
This is exactly why we do what we do. Giving artists, makers and small businesses the flexible space to create — without the pressure of a long lease — means buildings like Telsen Centre stay full of life, just as they’ve always been.
If you’re in Birmingham this Friday, come along:

Did you know? 📻 Before it was home to 91 units and modern flexible workspace, the Telsen Centre made radios — and didn’t just sell them, they taught people to build their own. Their in-house magazine came with full blueprints for a DIY wireless set, right down to the components.

A century later, this building is still alive. People are building their businesses here — a mix of businesses, artists and start-ups all under one roof. Still as important today as it was back then.

Drop a 📻 if you didn’t know this building used to make radios!

One of our licensees at the Argent Centre is keeping a piece of Birmingham’s food heritage alive — and it started with her dad refusing to let a Birmingham tradition disappear.
Twenty years ago, the traditional Birmingham Balti bowl stopped being made. Her father decided that wasn’t good enough, and set out to bring its manufacture back to the city using his old contacts in the Jewellery Quarter’s steel trade.
She’s since taken the business on herself, reconnecting with the city she grew up in after years working abroad. Earlier this year, The Guardian featured Birmingham Balti in the bid for UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status — one of the proudest moments in the business’s story so far.
She now runs it from the Argent Centre in the Jewellery Quarter, surrounded by the kind of independent makers and small businesses that keep this part of Birmingham feeling alive.
Businesses like this are why we love the Jewellery Quarter. Who else is doing something special in one of our buildings? Let us know below 👇

The heart of The Chubb Buildings ✨
This stunning atrium is the focal point of our Wolverhampton site — original Victorian ironwork, flooded with natural light, standing exactly where it always has.
What was once a derelict building is now home to a thriving community of local Wolverhampton businesses, working under the same roof that’s stood here for well over a century.
If you’ve visited The Chubb Buildings, you’ll know this space speaks for itself. If you haven’t yet — well, this is what you’re missing.
