🚨ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!🚨
Despite declaring a climate emergency & housing emergency Birmingham City Council is sleepwalking into further disaster by constantly granting planning permission to greedy private developers to demolish buildings in order to build luxury skyscrapers across our city centre.
Make no mistake - if we don't change the course of Birmingham City Council, our city like London, will become gentrified at the cost of our planet and none of the luxury apartments will benefit the 21,000 Brummie households stuck on our housing waiting list or the 10k homeless children languishing in temporary accommodation! 🤬
We've been campaigning to save Smallbrook Ringway from demolition & refurb & retrofit it for social housing, instead of the developer building luxury flats. As well as losing an important piece of architecture, its demolition will release over 187 million kgs of carbon into our atmosphere. 'Save Smallbrook' represents a fight to put the interests of people & planet before private profit. Smallbrook is one of many buildings earmarked for demolition as the council sells off its assets.
💥 Join our protest on the 10th of October, 4-6.30pm outside Smallbrook Ringway to send a clear message to Birmingham City Council that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! We demand they put the interests of our people and planet before private profit!
