We are delighted to announce that Neville Williams House nursing home in Selly Park has gained the Gold Standards Framework Quality Hallmark Award for end of life care—with a perfect assessment score of 77 out of 77.

The independent assessor described the visit as “exceptional” and found that the Gold Standards Framework was “truly embedded within the home”.

This outstanding result followed an intensive 18-month program of training, assessment and service improvement. It reflects the compassion, professionalism and commitment of colleagues throughout the home.

Congratulations to the entire Neville Williams House team on a remarkable achievement.

A beautiful day out in Birmingham’s beautiful Botanical Gardens 🌿🌸

Residents from Neville Williams House recently enjoyed a lovely trip to Birmingham Botanical Gardens, taking time to explore the gardens, enjoy the wonderful displays and simply spend time together somewhere rather special.

The Gardens have been part of Birmingham life for almost two centuries, with their historic 1829 design and an extraordinary collection of around 7,000 plants.

And, of course, a good day out calls for a good lunch! The group also enjoyed lunch at the Medicine Bakery café before heading home.

Judging by these gorgeous photographs, it was a day very well spent. 🌺

The carers/nurses at Anita stone court are amazing people. They were loving and supportive from the minute our mother/nan entered and right up until it was her time to go. They took their time with our mother/nan to ensure all of her needs were met. Even though times were extremely tough towards the end, Anita stone court’s staff made us feel reassured that our mother/nan was in safe hands & cared for efficiently and respectfully. We couldn’t thank everyone who looked after her enough, we couldn’t off done it without your support. 🌻🩷

What does the Gold Standards Framework mean for residents and families?

This is a practical, evidence-based UK training and improvement program for palliative and end-of-life care.

It helps care teams recognise changing needs early, begin sensitive conversations and plan ahead. Residents are supported, wherever possible, to explain what matters to them and make informed choices about their future care.

At Anita Stone Court in Moseley, this approach helps residents remain in familiar surroundings, supported by staff who know them well. Families are included in discussions and supported throughout their relative’s care.

During the assessment period, 94% of residents were able to die in the place they had chosen.

The home’s new Quality Hallmark Award recognises an approach that is proactive, personalised and compassionate.

The sunshine couldn’t have been better as residents, families and friends came together to enjoy an afternoon in our lovely gardens in Moseley.

There was something for everyone, with Hook a Duck, face painting, football and games for the children, alongside stalls, music and plenty of dancing. And, of course, no summer fete would be complete without some delicious food – including dishes with a Jamaican flavour, cakes and ice creams!

It was wonderful to see different generations enjoying the day together and making the most of the glorious sunshine.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise the fete, ran stalls, provided entertainment or simply came along and helped make it such a happy occasion.

Could you be our next Housing Officer?

We’re looking for someone who combines good housing knowledge with excellent people skills to join BCOP’s Housing & Property Services team.

You’ll work directly with older people across our Birmingham housing schemes, helping residents sustain their tenancies, managing housing and neighbourhood issues and working with other organisations to make sure people receive the support they need.

We’re looking for someone with at least 12 months’ experience of delivering social housing services who is confident, organised and able to deal with challenging situations fairly and sensitively.

💷 £29,565 – £31,317 depending on qualifications and experience
🕒 35 hours per week
