BCOP Joyful days, compassionate care. BCOP supports older people in Birmingham through nursing homes and housing.

Warm, person-centered support that puts people first — because the little things matter. Our nursing homes are Anita Stone Court in Moseley, Neville Williams House in Selly Park and Robert Harvey House in Handsworth Wood. We have both supported and independent housing schemes in locations across the city including Handsworth Wood, Handsworth, Tile Cross, Bartley Green, Harborne, Selly Oak, Bournville, Moseley and Kings Heath.

We’re counting down to the Great British Care Awards West Midlands final on 7th November – and we’re incredibly proud that BCOP has been shortlisted once more for the Care Employer Award! 🎉

With 270 employees across our care, housing and support services, we believe that people are at the heart of everything we do.

Our colleagues average around 6.3 years’ service, 56 have been with BCOP for 10 years or more, and our longest-serving colleague has achieved an amazing 42 years.

Investing in people, helping them develop and creating a workplace where people want to stay ultimately helps us provide better care and support for older adults.

📱🍂 Something exciting is coming in October’s Super Draw!

The Birmingham Community Lottery is giving one lucky supporter the chance to win Apple’s brand-new 2026 iPhone, which will be revealed soon!

🎂🍫 103 years young – and a birthday celebration with plenty of chocolate!

A few days before her 103rd birthday, Sheila, a resident at Neville Williams House, enjoyed a very special birthday treat – a trip to Cadbury World with fellow residents.

The group discovered the origins of cocoa in the Aztec world, explored the story of chocolate and even had a go at making some chocolate themselves.

When Lauren told the lovely team at Cadbury World about Sheila’s forthcoming 103rd birthday, they made the group VIPs and surprised Sheila with her very own chocolate bar, inscribed with a special 103rd birthday message. As Sheila loves chocolate, it couldn't have been a better present!

Then, on her actual birthday, the celebrations continued at Neville Williams House with a lovely party for Sheila, surrounded by friends and plenty of smiles.

“We’re incredibly proud to have achieved a perfect score.”

Amy Beasley, Manager of Neville Williams House, has paid tribute to the close and experienced team behind the home’s Gold Standards Framework success.

“Excellent end of life care depends upon much more than clinical knowledge. It comes from knowing each resident as a person, understanding what matters to them and recognising the small details that help them feel safe, comfortable and at home.

“Every department contributed to this achievement. Our nursing and care colleagues worked alongside our activities, catering, housekeeping, maintenance and administrative teams, as well as local healthcare professionals.”

The independent assessor praised the home’s “exceptional teamwork” and found that the framework was “truly embedded within the home”.

Congratulations once again to everyone at Neville Williams House.

🍫 A little chocolate, a little crunch and plenty of smiles!

Residents at Robert Harvey House enjoyed getting busy in the kitchen with Charlotte and Ian from our Activities Team, making delicious crispy cakes together.

Baking is always a lovely social activity – stirring, mixing and, of course, enjoying the results afterwards! We think the most important question is: who got to lick the spoon? 😋

There’s something rather special about receiving family news in print. 📰❤️

Famileo is now available for residents and their families at Anita Stone Court.

Families can use the Famileo app or website to share photographs, messages and everyday family news. These are brought together into a personalised printed newspaper for their loved one to enjoy at Anita Stone Court.

It’s a wonderfully simple way to help residents keep up with children, grandchildren and the wider family – especially when loved ones live further away or aren’t able to visit as often as they would like.

No screens or passwords needed for residents – just familiar faces, family stories and precious moments to enjoy again and again.

🍷 Lunch, laughter and a birthday treat! 🎂

Residents enjoyed a lovely trip out for lunch at The Country Girl in Selly Oak – with an extra special reason to celebrate.

It was Shirley’s birthday, so a glass of w**e was definitely in order! 🥂 There was plenty of good food, conversation and laughter around the table – followed, judging by our photographs, by quite a few delicious puddings! 🍨🍰

Happy birthday, Shirley! We hope you enjoyed your special treat and a lovely afternoon out with friends.

☕ Dementia Café tomorrow at Neville Williams House

Are you caring for someone living with dementia? Sometimes it helps simply to spend time with people who understand.

Our friendly Dementia Café is taking place tomorrow, Thursday 3 September, at Neville Williams House.

Dementia Cafés offer a welcoming and informal place for people living with dementia and their carers to meet others, enjoy dementia-friendly activities and find practical information, advice and support.

BCOP works with the Birmingham Dementia Carers Hub to help support those caring for someone with dementia.

Our Dementia Cafés are free to attend, so why not come along, have a cup of tea and meet others on a similar journey?
