On Saturday we enjoyed nature just being outside in the garden, playing, planting, cooking . We made up-cycled rubbish into instruments too. We played them and sang songs around the campfire before it was time to go home ! Thank you and Beat It Percussion CIC for our Great Big Green Week Fun Day. Meanwhile our warden got busy putting up our bird, bat boxes and insect houses.

Thank you to Naylor for showing us how to repurpose plastic bags into beautiful and useful objects. Our Creative English Group had a great time in the morning session. We practiced English as we talked about what types of things we can recycle, what we were making ,colours they were using. In the afternoon Elizabeth held another session which other members of the community joined and several people tried crocheting and knitting strips of plastic bags ! Upcycling material is a good way of reducing our waste.

Family Fun .Enjoy outdoor play and upcycle rubbish into instruments.

On Tuesday afternoon we looked at what cooking sustainably means - Fiona Allan Nutrition showed us how we could prepare a meal using the top 5 most wasted food items - bananas, bread , salad, milk and and the impact on the environment. Fiona shared simple recipes for potatas bravas bruschetta, salad pesto and chocolate banana lollies - all the food passed the taste test ! We also explored which methods of cooking are the cheapest per meal - the gas hob and microwave ! Sorry bananas eaten before we had time to photograph!
