Foster Birmingham We are Foster Birmingham, part of Birmingham Children's Trust, and Birmingham's Biggest Family! We are recruiting foster carers now - call 0121 303 7575!

We are dedicated to providing loving, stable and secure family homes for Birmingham children. We are thrilled you are here and considering fostering as foster carers really do have a profound and life-changing effect on the children and young people in their care. If you have the time in your life and love in your heart to help care for the most vulnerable children and young people in the city, we would love to hear from you! We understand that it can be confusing deciding which agency to foster with, but it is worth considering that Birmingham Children’s Trust are responsible for all of the children who come into care in Birmingham. This means that when a child needs a foster family in Birmingham, we will always look to our own in-house foster carers first and will only look further afield when we have explored every possible option of meeting the child's needs from our in-house carers first. This means that our foster carers are more likely to get regular placements within their preferred age range. Unlike many of the other agencies we are a non-profit organisation, committed to improving children’s lives.

This Black History Month, we're celebrating Birmingham-born poet, writer and activist Benjamin Zephaniah.

“Every child deserves a place where they can dare to dream.”

Born right here in Handsworth, the late, great Benjamin Zephaniah spent his life championing young people, equality, and the power of love. In his famous novel Refugee Boy, he showed the world the incredible impact of the British foster care system through the eyes of Alem; a young person needing safety, warmth, and a place to call home.

Fostering isn't just about providing a roof; it’s about giving a child a sanctuary to grow, heal, and find their voice. Right now, in Birmingham, there are local children waiting for that exact same chance.

What is a Special Guardianship Order (SGO)?

Earlier this summer, we were delighted to learn that Claire is to be awarded an OBE.

During Kinship Care Week, we're celebrating Claire's achievement and recognising her journey from kinship carer to Special Guardian.

Claire said she was "over the moon" and "very excited" to receive the honour.

Her story is a powerful reminder of the life-changing difference kinship carers make for children and young people every day.

It's Kinship Care Week!

This week we're shining a spotlight on kinship care and celebrating the incredible people who step up to care for children within their family or friendship network.

Kinship carers can be grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, family friends and other connected adults who provide children with stability, security and a sense of belonging.

Throughout the week we'll be sharing stories, experiences and information to help raise awareness of kinship care and recognise the difference kinship carers make every day.

Today marks the start of Black History Month, a time to celebrate the people, stories and communities that have helped shape Birmingham and continue to enrich our city today.

This year's theme, Honouring Our Communities, is a chance to recognise the vital role communities play in helping children and young people feel valued, supported and connected to their identity and culture.

At Foster Birmingham, we're proud to work with foster carers from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. We know that having foster carers who reflect the diverse communities of our city can make a real difference to children and young people, helping them maintain important cultural connections and feel a sense of belonging.

Throughout October, we'll be sharing stories from members of our fostering community and celebrating the black foster carers who are making a lasting difference to the lives of children and young people across Birmingham. Keep an eye out for stories and interviews throughout the month.

Recently, we celebrated with our foster carers at our annual Family Fun Day, and what a fantastic day it was!

With beautiful weather and plenty of smiles, our foster families came together to enjoy a day filled with fun, laughter and lasting memories. From bouncy castles to henna artists and a special appearance from Trusty Bear himself, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Fostering is more than providing a home. It's about giving children experiences they can look back on with a smile, helping them build confidence, develop friendships and feel connected to a community that cares about them.

Days like these remind us that fostering is about creating opportunities, building a sense of belonging and ensuring children know they are part of Birmingham's Biggest Family.
