Foster Birmingham

Foster Birmingham We are Foster Birmingham, part of Birmingham Children's Trust, and Birmingham's Biggest Family! We are recruiting foster carers now - call 0121 303 7575!

We are dedicated to providing loving, stable and secure family homes for Birmingham children. We are thrilled you are here and considering fostering as foster carers really do have a profound and life-changing effect on the children and young people in their care. If you have the time in your life and love in your heart to help care for the most vulnerable children and young people in the city, we

would love to hear from you! We understand that it can be confusing deciding which agency to foster with, but it is worth considering that Birmingham Children’s Trust are responsible for all of the children who come into care in Birmingham. This means that when a child needs a foster family in Birmingham, we will always look to our own in-house foster carers first and will only look further afield when we have explored every possible option of meeting the child's needs from our in-house carers first. This means that our foster carers are more likely to get regular placements within their preferred age range. Unlike many of the other agencies we are a non-profit organisation, committed to improving children’s lives.

Could you help siblings stay together in a family home where they can thrive?

In this video, Jo Boddison, Recruitment and Assessment Team Manager, shares an example of the financial support available for carers who look after siblings.

Sibling relationships can be some of the most important in a child's life, offering reassurance, connection and a sense of belonging during times of uncertainty. However, an estimated 20,000 children in care in England are separated from their siblings.

By fostering siblings, you could help children maintain these vital relationships while providing the love, stability and support they need to thrive.

I was scared... but at least I still had my brother.

When we came into care, everything felt unfamiliar. New faces, new routines, a new place to call home. But having my brother with me meant I still had someone who knew my story. Someone who remembered the same family holidays, laughed at the same jokes and understood how I was feeling without me needing to explain.

For many children entering care, a sibling is a source of comfort, reassurance and belonging when everything else is changing. That's why foster carers who can welcome brothers and sisters together are so important.

For many older siblings entering care, their first concern isn't themselves, it's their younger brothers and sisters.

After spending years looking after his little brother, Jack shares how important it was to know he was safe and happy in foster care too.

Sometimes, it takes time for children carrying that responsibility to realise they don't have to do it alone. That they can feel safe, be cared for, and simply be children again.

Watch this story from our UK-wide project sharing the experiences of foster carers and care-experienced people.

Could you provide that support for a sibling group? Visit fosterbirmingham.co.uk or call 0121 303 7575.

There's a lot of misinformation around fostering and work. That's why, in our Money Matters series, we're separating myth from fact and answering some of the most common questions about fostering finances.

Many foster carers balance fostering alongside employment. Every situation is different, and factors such as working hours, flexibility, and the needs of the child need to be considered.

"Who do you turn to when everything changes?"

For many children entering care, the answer is their brother or sister. Siblings can offer reassurance, familiarity and emotional support during one of the most challenging times in a child's life.

Yet in 2026, an estimated 37% of children in care with a sibling are separated from them, affecting around 20,000 children. One of the biggest challenges is finding enough foster carers with the room to welcome sibling groups into their homes.

We're looking for more foster carers who can help keep brothers and sisters together when they need each other most.

Imagine entering foster care and being told you can't stay with your brother or sister.

For many children, that becomes a reality because there aren't enough foster carers with the space to welcome sibling groups.

Our latest blog explores why sibling relationships matter so much and how foster carers can help keep brothers and sisters together when they need each other most. 💛

If you have the space in your home and heart to care for siblings, we'd love to hear from you. Call our friendly team on 0121 303 7575 or find out more online: fosterbirmingham.co.uk/fostering-siblings-in-birmingham/

When everything else changes, a sibling can be the one constant.
For children entering care, brothers and sisters often provide comfort, familiarity and a sense of belonging during an uncertain time. They share memories, experiences and a bond that can help them navigate some of life's biggest challenges.

That's why keeping siblings together is so important.

We're looking for more foster carers who can provide loving, stable homes for sibling groups, helping brothers and sisters remain connected to the people who know and understand them best.
