We just found out that the Sikh Base was rated the best station at our local Faith for Fun event!

We decided to focus on the spirit of uplifting *Chardi Kala* considering everything that has happened over the past few years and I wanted to share this exercise with you all!

We started with the basics of who Guru Nanak Dev Ji was and his core beliefs and upbringing with stories of his seva, uplifting people. We then moved onto describing positive, uplifting words towards ourselves and got each kid to name a positive quality about themselves. We then went over the concept of the lotus within Gurbani and our Young leaders taught them origami lotuses, that they stuck onto a card. Inside this card we encouraged them to write these positive attributes about themselves so that whenever they feel down or demotivated, which will happen as we go through ups and downs in our life, they can open this card and remind themselves of who they are and the qualities they embody, so that they can move forward with resilience and smiles.

The smiles and positivity that were brought from this activity was heartwarming. Some of the kids (and even other leaders from other faith groups) really expressed their gratitude for the exercise and this was a wonderful moment to reflect on why we do this seva.
