Through The Door: Now we Move Forward Together.

We were delighted to attend this celebration event today hosted by Roshni Birmingham to mark the introduction of the new statutory definition of Honour-Based Abuse (HBA).

It was a fantastic opportunity to show our support, solidarity and allyship for all those who have worked tirelessly to achieve this important milestone. A statutory definition of HBA reflects years of hard work, dedication and advocacy from survivors, communities and partner agencies.

One shared definition is so important. It helps ensure consistency across services and agencies, strengthening understanding, and ultimately protecting those at risk.

We were struck by a speaker discussing Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM). It made us reflect on how we had not previously considered FGM as one of the harms sitting under the wider umbrella of Honour-Based Abuse. The new definition helps broaden everyone’s understanding of the many forms these harms can take.

There was singing and dancing to celebrate and while Lisa our CEO joined in, she had to make up for her lack of vocal talent with enthusiasm!

Thank you to everyone involved in inviting us and making this important change happen.

Today we are launching the RSVP Recovery Appeal.
RSVP has been hit with a funding crisis, at a time when more survivors than ever, need our support.
Survivors are bravely reaching out to us, but we are struggling to respond to the growing demand.
This appeal is about standing beside survivors: help RSVP recover and rebuild the support that so many rely on.
