Thanks to you, women like Iman will continue to receive lifelong care!

Over the past two weeks, we've been raising funds to help us keep our promise of providing vital equipment and support to women living with a stoma.

A group of funders pledged to match every donation made before the end of May. You gave so generously that we hit our initial target early, and were able to increase the matching funds. In total, you've now raised £45,000 - an incredible achievement!

Thank you to everyone who made a donation, shared the appeal and watched Iman's story - you helped us.

Iman shared what this means to her: “To all the people who support the hospital, I want to say thank you. The kind of treatment we receive here would be very expensive. I am very grateful that you are treating me and all of us for free.”

Obstetric fistula is a devastating childbirth injury caused by a prolonged obstructed labour. This is usually due to a lack of adequate maternal care. Many of the women who suffer this injury can be successfully cured with a 2-hour surgery.

But what about those who can't be cured? For Iman, who suffered severe injuries, her journey is very different. For the rest of her life she will be depending on care and supplies provided for free by Hamlin Fistula UK.

Right now, we need your support to ensure we can be there for her and other women in her position. Until midnight on Sunday, all donations up to the value of £20,000 will be matched, doubling your impact. Please give now.

Until the end of May, your donation will be matched, doubling your impact. Help fund a lifelong commitment to women living with fistula injuries.

Today is the International Day to End Obstetric Fistula.

Since 1968, Hamlin Fistula UK has been working to end obstetric fistula in Ethiopia. Every year, more women receive life changing treatment and rehabilitation.

But for women like Iman, a cure is not possible. In this video, Nurse Tigist talks about life for a woman living with a stoma and how she supports them.

Iman's fistula couldn't be completely cured, and so she made the tough decision to have urinary diversion surgery. This means she will always need a stoma bag and will rely on us to provide care and supplies for the rest of her life.

Until the end of the month, donations will be matched, meaning your impact will be doubled. Please support us today and help us continue to be there for women like Iman.

Until the end of May, your donation will be matched, doubling your impact. Help fund a lifelong commitment to women living with fistula injuries.

Many of the women who come into our care have lived with obstetric fistula, sometimes for many years, before they're cured. The success rate for the operation is extraordinarily high and it's wonderful to be able to give so many women a fresh start. However, a smaller proportion of women affected don’t have the same story of celebration.

This is Iman, a survivor of obstetric fistula who could not be cured with standard surgery. In our new film, she talks about how Tigist, a nurse at Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital, helped her to make the difficult decision to undergo life-changing urinary diversion surgery.

We're delighted that another 55 women have completed their rehabilitation and reintegration training at Desta Mender. This is the 24th batch of graduates to do so since Desta Mender opened its doors in 2002.

We would like to thank UNFPA Ethiopia who supported their training.

A Hamlin Tribute Fund gives you a special place for you to share messages, photos and memories of your loved one.
When we lose someone we love, it can bring great comfort to share thoughts and memories of them, and a Hamlin Tribute Fund means you can raise funds in their honour too if you choose. Some people prefer to do this in lieu of flowers at a funeral.
Follow the link below to find out more.

Create a meaningful tribute page to celebrate a loved one, share their story, photos and cherished memories, and, if you wish, support Hamlin Fistula in their honour.
