ramadan mubarak to all of our girls, families and community observing 🤍🌙

This month is all about reflection, gratitude and giving back, and we’re so proud of some of our young people who are already putting that into action 💫

they’re fundraising to support, showing real compassion, leadership and heart beyond their years 🫶🏽

We teach our young people that it’s about more than just looking after yourself, it’s about how you show up for others too. And this right here is exactly that.

So if you’re able to support even in a small way, it would mean a lot to the community and the girls, every little truly makes a difference 🤍

Throwback to our girls group culture day back in Feb🌍

The girls chose to do a culture day as part of our “becoming her” journey for this term. The idea they had behind it was to reconnect with who they are at their core. So we looked at understanding their names, sharing their roots, and their cultures. Becoming her isn’t just about the future, it’s about knowing where you come from, embracing your identity, and feeling empowered in your story 💜 To know yourself, is to love yourself

The girls created their own culture crowns 👑, and just really celebrated who they are and where they come from. With random facts and funny stories. The creativity was flowingggg 🎨

Finished it off with a lil bring & share because you know we had to eattt 🤭🍽️

Late post but still one of our faves💜

We had the girls at Arena and Fortis Academy for a real, open and honest sexual health workshop with the lovely Mandy from ,creating a safe space to ask questions, bust myths and actually understand their bodies and choices.
From learning about protection, to talking periods, consent and relationships, the girls definitely got fully involved, asked questions and supported each other throughout. We love to see it!

Work like this is so important and we’re proud to keep having these conversations with our young people 🫶🏽

Girls Group Recap 💜

We’ve got some amazing moments to catch you up on, so over the next few days we’ll be sharing some recaps from recent sessions. Look out👀

In this session the girls took part in a Healthy Relationships workshop with the lovely Mandy and Kiran

We split into two groups, giving the girls space to have some really open conversations about the different types of relationships in their lives and how media and social media can influence the way we see them.

It was such a good session with lots of discussion, honesty and reflection from the girls.

So many moments to share soon… we’ve been busy behind the scenes!😩

International Women’s Month 💜
Celebrating the women and girls who make Essence what it is

As we jump into March, it only feels right to start by recognising International Women’s Month before anything else.

At Essence , so much of what we do is shaped by the women who lead, support and uplift our community. From the women behind our team, to the girls who walk through our doors each week, we are constantly inspired by the strength, honesty and growth we see.

The continuous aim is to provide a space where young women feel safe to be themselves, build confidence, form meaningful friendships and explore who they are becoming. Watching our girls support one another, express themselves and grow in confidence reminds us why this work matters so much. So this month we celebrate women and girls everywhere

To the women who support us, the women who lead, and to the girls who make our space so special, we celebrate you today and always 💜

IDENTITY. “What’s in a name?”

Students explored the meaning behind their names and designed graffiti pieces that represent who they are and who they’re becoming 🎨✨

Sometimes behaviour isn’t defiance.
Sometimes it’s identity still forming.

Creative space = confident choices.

“This Is My Place.”

Children’s Mental Health Week (Feb 9–15) is a reminder that every child deserves a space where they feel safe, connected and supported. A place where they can speak freely, be themselves fully, and know they matter.

Throughout the week, we’ve been asking the boys and girls: Where is your safe place? Who makes you feel safe? What does safety look like to you? Their answers have been honest and heartfelt.

Stay tuned, we’ll be sharing more of what they’ve said over the coming days. Let’s continue raising awareness around children’s mental health and creating spaces where young people feel seen, heard and protected. 💭✨

Today’s Girls Group session was delivered and supported by the lovely Kiran from

The girls learned all about healthy sleeping habits, creating positive routines, and how good sleep can support their wellbeing and personal growth, linking perfectly with this term’s theme of becoming HER👑

We then got creative as the girls began embroidering their very own sleep masks with their initials, learning a new skill while winding down in a calm and mindful way 🪡💤 This part of the session was led by our amazing Essence staff member Suhayla, who did an incredible job guiding the girls through one of her many creative crafts….Definitely this weeks challenge, but no new skill comes without trial and error🙌🏾

A beautiful mix of learning, self-care and creativity today 💜
