Christmas may still feel a little way off, but we're already looking ahead to the festive season and would love your help! 🎄
As we start planning our festive content, we're looking for stories from families who have stayed in a Ronald McDonald House over the last few years. These stories help us show the real impact of keeping families close during some of the most challenging times in their lives.

We're particularly keen to hear from:

Families who stayed in a House over the Christmas period
Families whose siblings were able to stay together
Families who can share how the House helped remove a practical worry during a difficult time
Families from all regions and backgrounds

The stories shared may be featured across our website and social media channels, helping us highlight the importance of our Houses and the families we support.
If you have a story to share, or know a family who might be interested, please get in touch or email [email protected]

Thank you for helping us keep families at the heart of everything we do. ❤️

"Andrea and Jenn recently took on the Adrenalin Pass at Honister Slate Mine, crossing a high-wire bridge suspended 1,000ft above sea level before taking on a 30m free fall. Their bravery raised an amazing £745 for families staying at a Ronald McDonald House. 🌟

The inspiration behind their challenge was Bertie. Born in November 2025, Bertie needed specialist treatment at Birmingham Children's Hospital, more than 60 miles from home. His journey included multiple surgeries, eight general anaesthetics and a 16-week stay in hospital.

During that time, our Birmingham House became a home away from home for Bertie's parents, Emma and Simon, giving them a place to rest, recharge and stay just moments from their little boy's bedside.

Thank you both for your generosity, determination and support. We are so grateful, and we know your fundraising will make a real difference to families facing some of their toughest days. 💕"

Birthday smiles and bear hugs for Jaziah! 💛

We've been supporting Jaziah's family for more than two years while he receives treatment for his complex medical needs.

This year, Jaziah celebrated his third birthday in hospital. Following surgery, he was feeling a little under the weather, so our team decided to bring the birthday celebrations to him. 🎁

We surprised Jaziah and his family with his very own Build-A-Bear, along with plenty of cuddles and smiles to help make the day extra special. 🐻

Happy Birthday, Jaziah! We're so pleased we could help bring a little joy to your special day, and we hope your year ahead is filled with lots of happy moments.

"We're incredibly grateful to have recently received a generous donation of household essentials, pantry food and Grab & Go supplies from Sian.

As a friend of the Taylor family, who are currently staying with us at Birmingham House, Sian wanted to give something back and show her support for Sadé, Rebekka and beautiful baby Akari during their hospital journey.

Thank you, Sian, for your kindness and generosity. It is a privilege to support families like Sadé and Rebekka's, and donations like yours help us continue providing comfort, practical support and a welcoming place to stay for families with children in hospital." 🧡

It’s McHappy Day tomorrow! 🍟

This McHappy Day, £1 from every qualifying main meal purchased at McDonald's will help Ronald McDonald House UK keep families close to their child when they need it most.

You can make an even bigger difference by rounding up your order at the till. And don't forget to pick up a limited-edition £5 Grimace Beanie, available in selected restaurants and on the McDonald's app, with all proceeds supporting Ronald McDonald House UK.

Every family staying in our House has their own story. Phoenix's mum shared:

"Having a room at the House allows for a little sense of normality while away from the wards. With Phoenix being able to spend time here via medical pass, it gives us freedom and time together as a family. She loves spending time at the House."

On 26 September, every meal, every round-up and every Grimace Beanie can help families stay together during some of their toughest moments. 💛

As we recognize this September, we're thinking of the NICU families supported by Ronald McDonald House programs around the world ❤️

Families like baby Grayson's.

Grayson was born early at 33 weeks and needed immediate surgery and specialized care. For nearly a month while Grayson was in the NICU, his parents, Paige and Jordan, stayed just steps away at Ronald McDonald House Louisville

"Being at Ronald McDonald House allowed us to be with Grayson in the NICU as much as possible," Paige says. "It was the biggest blessing to us on our journey."

We love a surprise at Ronald McDonald House Birmingham, and this one was especially lovely. 🌟

The Gibson family recently arrived with boxes of pantry essentials, Grab & Go items and toiletries for our families, but the biggest surprise of all was seeing Harper walk through our doors too.

Harper is currently receiving treatment at Birmingham Children's Hospital, and we're privileged to be supporting her family during this time. Seeing her smile brought so much joy to our team.

A huge 'thank you' to the Gibson family, and to their friends and family, for their generous donation. Your kindness will help provide comfort and support to families staying with us when they need it most.

We're sending Harper and her family our very best wishes as she continues her treatment. 🧡

Jeremy, Jessica, and their three children stayed at Ronald McDonald House Atlanta for over 60 nights while their son participated in a feeding therapy program nearby.

When families can stay close, they can focus on what matters most: caring for and supporting one another throughout their child’s medical journey.

When you're navigating your child's medical journey, everyday activities like getting a haircut can fall to the bottom of the priority list.

At Ronald McDonald House Tampa Bay, Inc., Olivia and her team helped families get back-to-school ready with fresh haircuts. We're grateful to community members like Olivia who give back in meaningful ways, helping families feel supported and experience moments of normalcy during challenging times.

At Ronald McDonald House Birmingham, we know how important it is for families to be together, especially when celebrating life's special moments. 🎂

Recently, we were delighted to help Daniel and his family celebrate his 16th birthday. While Daniel is receiving treatment at Birmingham Children's Hospital, his foster parents, Sandra and Carl, were looking for a place where family and friends could come together to mark the occasion. Our Dayroom provided the perfect setting for a much-deserved celebration.

Sandra shared: "It was a lovely day, especially for Daniel to see his siblings on his special day. Thank you to all the team at Birmingham House. You have really looked after us during our time here."

We're so pleased we could play a small part in making Daniel's birthday special and helping create happy memories with those closest to him.

Happy 16th Birthday, Daniel! 🎉

Once a Ronald McDonald House Family, always a Ronald McDonald House Family. ❤️

While Harlow and Hadley were in the NICU, the Rardon family found comfort and support at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Missouri. Now, the twins have made it a tradition to give back by volunteering at the House each year, even spending part of their birthday this year packing lunches and preparing a meal for families staying at the House.

Thank you, Harlow and Hadley!

Summer days call for a sweet treat! 🍦

When a child is receiving medical care, moments like sharing an ice cream, enjoying a summer activity, or simply spending time together can mean so much.

At Ronald McDonald House, families can hold onto these moments, all while staying close to the care their child needs.

“It is not just the House that provided us with a sense of home – it was the people,” says Shawna.

When the Roy family’s daughter, Carly, was in the NICU, her family stayed at Ronald McDonald House South Central Ontario, surrounded by a community of support while their daughter was receiving medical treatment.

For families like the Roys, Ronald McDonald House becomes more than a place to stay. It's a place of comfort and connection and a reminder that they’re not alone.
