βοΈWe are running our Healthy Parent Carer programme in the Autumn term starting on Monday 9th September, It will be 10 until 1, runs for 6 weeks, and will be based at the St James Centre on Laird Street in Birkenhead. βοΈ North Birkenhead Development Trust - St James Centre
This course is funded by Family Toolbox - Wirral Council Pathfinder Fund and is specifically for families with children with additional needs or disabilities that are currently or have recently been working with social services.
To gain the best from this course all 6 sessions should be attended.
On the course we introduce the βCLANGERSββ¨
Connect:
Making time to meet, small talk at the school gate, smiling, talking to a delivery person, social media, saying hello - these are all ways to build connections.βοΈ
Learning:
Learning develops patience and brings confidence and satisfaction, exercises our brains, and acquiring new skills allows us to meet new people. π¨
Active:
Being active makes you feel good! Whether itβs a walk, dancing, being active with your children, engaging in sports, or taking the stairs instead of the lift - it all counts. ππ½ββοΈ
Notice:
Practice gratitude, find joy in the little things, put your phone down, savour tastes and sounds, embrace your senses, and enjoy the moment.π
Give:
Offering support, spending quality time with the people in your life, helping others through volunteering, giving yourself treats, and dedicating time to others. Itβs all about sharing, kindness, and the profound impact of giving.π
Eat well:
Hydrate, enjoy treats in moderation, celebrate with loved ones, eat slowly, plan your meals, and savour homemade food.π
Relax :
Find relaxation through exercise, baths, nature, laughter, and quality time with friends.π§πΌββοΈ
Sleep:
Optimise your sleep with naps, less screen time, relaxation apps, less caffeine, sleep-friendly foods, a comfy bed, and a consistent sleep routine.π
If you want to know what it's like, here's some of the feedback we have had from previous cohorts:
"It made me think about ME more. Remembering I need to look after myself more, in order to carry on my caring role."
"Interesting course with lots of food for thought. Lovely meeting up with other parent carers in similar situations. "
"Helping me see me again."
"Makes you think outside the box for things to help."
Here is a short form to register your interest and we will be in touch to confirm.
