Rotary Club of Birkenhead Our current membership is around 60 men and women - but new members are always welcome.

We meet for lunch every WednesdayMembers also serve on various committees, each on responsible for promoting the Rotarian ideal in its own sphere of activity.

This week we paid tribute to Rotarian Jeremy Stephens (left) for his amazing 50 years service as a member of Birkenhead Rotary. His certificate was presented by the Head of the Rotary District Andrew Allen, who warmly thanked Jeremy.

This week we welcomed the amazing Vaishnavi Jaishankar aged 12, who, supported by her family, performed a dance repertoire based on Bharatanatyam, one of South India's oldest classical dance traditions.
Vaishnavi, who began her dance journey aged five, captivated her audience with her rhythm, expression and storytelling. Introduced by her Mother, the audience also received a fascinating booklet describing the meaning of each dance.

We are so pleased to see the new interactive board in use, donated by our club to Make It Happen, in Birkenhead. During a fun cooking event, led by volunteer Chris Cullender, the session was filled with healthy cooking and food safety preparation advice. Great that all attendees were able to enjoy what they prepared.

22 people, 27 bags of rubbish and an amazing group of people, litter picked around Birkenhead Central Library today, spearheaded by Rotarian Norman Jones, and highlighted by his brother Chris.

Birkenhead Rotary were joined by The Friends of Birkenhead Central Library, Friends of Birkenhead Rotary, Wirral Deen Centre, who kindly provided refreshments, and young representatives from The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, all working together for the benefit of their local community.

Highlighting the Rotary End Polio campaign, that has been supported for over 40 years, Birkenhead Rotarians assisted with the transportation of the campaign torch relay from Seacombe Ferry to Chester, via Hamilton Square Station.

We express our sincere condolences to all those people who have lost loved ones and friends in the disaster in Nepal and Tibet.
Birkenhead Rotarians have supported a school, a water project and the re-building programme, over the years, and, via a resident in Wirral, we have developed a strong friendship with Binay Lama.
Members were so relieved to be in touch with Binay and to know he and his family are safe.
Rotary sponsored relief organisations are; ShelterBox, Aquabox, Disaster Aid UK & Ireland and Water Survival, where donations can be made via their websites.

As well as a visit from two dinosaurs, there were some amazing attractions for all the family at the Hamilton Square Picnic today, a truly special event involving all the community. Well done Amy at Make it Happen - Birkenhead and all the organisers. We just helped in a small way, which was a privilege.

Rotarians were delighted to welcome Headteacher Alistair Currie, and Rotakids Club pupils from Prenton Primary School for lunch in July. The young pupils gave an excellent presentation outlining their many activities. Mr. Currie and the pupils are pictured with Rotary Club President Ron Warne.

Pupils and Staff at Woodchurch High School, including its Rotary Interact Club, have been raising annual charitable funds. Amongst the donations, £1,250 was presented to John Flynn for the charity Role On - an organisation supporting long term former carers.
