On Saturday, as part of The Wirral Walking Festival, we assisted with the Wirral Way Wheelchair Ramble. Very special thanks to all the volunteers who made this possible, and Rotarian Philip Barton who organised it.

At this weeks meeting we welcomed a very special visitor - Grace the hearing dog, accompanied by charity volunteers Polly and Maria from Hearing Dogs for Deaf people.
Rotarians heard how it costs forty three thousand pounds to train each dog, and presently there are 1,100 helping deaf people. Lots more information would be available from the charity website hearingdogs.org.uk and also its hearinglink.org.

Fascinating Speaker

One of our members, Mike Shaw, recently introduced us to Claire Tunstall. Claire is Global Head of Art, Archives and Records Management for the whole of Unilever and is based at their Port Sunlight factory and offices. Claire gave us a fascinating insight into her work there. She told us that she is a passionate advocate of sorting, organising, conserving and recording. The archives comprise the whole history of the Unilever business, and the records are carefully stored away in an impressive 16 kilometres of shelving within the factory site.
