๐ŸŒŸ Already Making a Difference Through Toolbox for Change ๐ŸŒŸ

We are incredibly proud to share that, following our successful Toolbox for Change funding award we are already supporting young people and families to have their voices heard and influence positive change across Wirral.

One young person leading the way is Harvey Cowie, a former student of Clare Mount Specialist Sports College, who is currently studying Preparation for Working Life at Wirral Met College.

Harvey is a passionate advocate for neurodivergent young people and currently sits on the Neurodivergent Council at Wirral Met, where he works alongside others to ensure that the voices, experiences and needs of neurodivergent learners are heard and understood.

As part of our commitment to this project, we will be supporting Harvey and others like him to build confidence, share their lived experiences and help shape services and support for local children, young people and families.

Too often decisions are made about neurodivergent people without involving them. Harvey is helping to change that.

We are excited to work alongside families, young people and partners to ensure lived experience drives real change across our communities.

Thank you to Family Toolbox for investing in projects that place the voices of children, young people and families at the centre of decision-making. We're already getting started! ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŒŸโšฝ Building Confidence Before September! โšฝ๐ŸŒŸ

A huge welcome to James and Zack from Orrets Meadow Primary School, who joined us during our Half Term Sports & Activity Camp at Clare Mount School as part of their transition journey into Year 7 this September.

The boys threw themselves into everything on offer football, basketball, board games, lightning games, mini matches, and plenty of team challenges. Despite the incredible heatwave temperatures, their enthusiasm, determination, and positive attitudes never wavered! โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ

The camp provided a fantastic opportunity for James and Zack to meet staff; including School Head, Mr Keefe, make new friends, become familiar with their new school environment, and begin building the confidence needed for the exciting move to secondary school.

Transition can be a big step for any young person, and it has been wonderful to see both boys embracing new experiences, developing friendships, and showing exactly why they will be a fantastic addition to the Clare Mount community.

We are looking forward to welcoming James and Zack officially in September and watching them continue to grow, thrive, and succeed.

Please join us in wishing them every success as they prepare for this exciting new chapter! ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ‰

โšฝ A Fantastic Day of Football Refereeing at Clare Mount! โšฝ

Last week we worked with a group of students from Clare Mount school who took part in an exciting Introduction to Football Refereeing session โ€” and what a brilliant experience it was!

Delivered by CCB Mental Health and qualified referee and highly experienced Bob Gilfoyle, students had the opportunity to learn the rules of the game, develop confidence in decision-making, and put their new skills into practice both in the classroom and out on the pitch with pupils taking over the referees role to officiate live games.

The session was packed with energy, enthusiasm, teamwork, and plenty of excellent refereeing skills on display. It was fantastic to see students stepping outside of their comfort zones, showing leadership, communication, and a real passion for football.

In the afternoon session, we had a special guest, Lewis Cubbins a former pupil of Clare Mount who is now a qualified referee officiating in local youth matches from teams aged 7 to 18. He spoke of the enjoyment, personal development and income he was generating just from refereeing.

A huge thank you to Bob Gilfoyle, Lewis Cubbings and Football for Change for providing and funding such an engaging and inspiring opportunity for local SEND young people.

Well done to all students who took part today โ€” you were a credit to the school! ๐Ÿ‘โšฝ

๐ŸŒŸ Meet Harry Edwards โ€“ A Passionate Voice for Neurodiversity at CCB Mental Health ๐ŸŒŸ

โ€œClare Mount has always felt like my second home and family, so becoming part of CCB means so much more, itโ€™s personal.โ€

Three years after leaving school, Harry Edwards has returned with a mission: to inspire, support, and empower autistic young people through sport, music, mentoring, and neurodiversity awareness.

Harry proudly embraces his journey and is determined to become a positive role model for others across the SEND community. His passion, lived experience, and dedication are exactly what make our SEND sessional staff and volunteers so special.

Harry has already made a huge impact by working with us at our SEND youth club at Clare Mount School, helping connect CCB to the SEND Fair at Conway Park, creating new opportunities for young people through the Prep for Life programme and future SEND initiatives.

๐Ÿ’™ At CCB Mental Health, we believe lived experience creates powerful change.

๐Ÿ’™ We are proud to work alongside passionate SEND staff, volunteers, and mentors who truly understand the young people they support.

If you want to help inspire the next generation, champion inclusion, and make a real difference in the SEND community, weโ€™d love to hear from you.

โšฝ New CCB Coach Spotlight: Troy Lockyer โšฝ

Weโ€™re proud to welcome Troy Lockyer to our team as a sessional coach at Community Capacity Builders!

Troy, a former pupil of Clare Mount Specialist College, first joined our Holiday Activities and Food programme in Christmas 2021 at just 11 years old, attending alongside five of his siblings. From day one, Troy embraced every opportunity to learn new football skills, stay active, make new friends, and enjoy memorable experiences, including a special trip to the cinema at the end of the week.

Since then, Troy has continued to grow with our support, taking part in our financial literacy and employability programme and completing his FA EE Playmaker Award before progressing to the Tranmere Rovers Education Hub.

Today, Troy is giving back to the community as a valued coach, working with SEND pupils and children from across the local area. Drawing on his own lived experience, alongside his excellent football ability, Troy is an inspiring role model for the young people he supports.

Stories like Troyโ€™s show the incredible impact that investing in young people can have. By creating fun, welcoming, and inclusive opportunities, we help children and young people build confidence, develop skills, and create lasting memories.
