A bit more work has now been completed on the gas turbine boat project. The dash has been removed and is now ready for refit and reconnection, with the internals and cabling fully stripped out in preparation for the next stage. We are always looking for jet engine engineers and potential sponsorship for a future possible record attempt on a true piece of history. The story can be followed on Facebook via Vcrew and at www.vcrew.co.uk.

Building race boats in the Midlands isn’t always glamorous, it’s a test of resilience, determination, and pure enthusiasm. While we now have gas turbine engines and a gearbox for the Dynoplane race project, we’ve kept pushing forward, committed to restoring and modernising this historic craft back to full running condition. Every setback has become part of the story, and every small achievement gets us one step closer to seeing the boat back on the water where it belongs.
We’re now looking for volunteers who want to be part of something unique. Whether you’re a marine electrical engineer, a gas turbine specialist, or an engineering student eager to make a name for yourself, this is an opportunity to contribute to a genuine revival project. You’ll be part of a team juggling work, life, commitments, and a shared passion, because real projects are built by real people, in real time, not in perfect conditions.
Based here in the Midlands, we can offer pizza, tea, biscuits, good company, and the chance to be involved in something that will be talked about far beyond our workshop. As the weather improves, we’re ramping up our build sessions and pushing hard towards the finish line.
If you have relevant experience or the enthusiasm to learn, and want to be part of this journey, get in touch and tell us why you’d like to be involved.

Thank you,Mark and Trevor

Wishing them luck.

Bye Bye Bluebird 👋

Here's a picture of Bluebird K7 leaving The Ruskin Museum in Coniston this morning.

But don't worry as Bluebird will be back! She's just on her way to have her No.1 engine fitted.

The engine will then be tested in preparation for Bluebird's return to Coniston Water during 2026

Bluebird K7 will be back on display at the Museum from Sunday 23rd March
