The Friends Group was constituted in 2014, and works with Stockton Council who manage the site. Membership is open to anyone interested in helping the group achieve its aim. The Aims of the group are to promote the biodiversity, conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment of Cowpen Bewley woodland Park and to promote the benefit of the Park to inhabitants of th

e surrounding area.

3. Objectives
The group will fulfil the aim by pursuing the following objectives-
1. To involve local people in improving the area.
2. To carry out and promote biodiversity and practical conservation.
3. To educate, encourage and support the local population in environmental practice by working with statutory and non statutory agencies.
4. To raise funds and receive contributions where appropriate to finance the work.
5. To publicise and promote the work.
6. To open bank accounts.
7. To make rules and standing orders for categories of members and their rights.
8. To take out insurance as necessary.
9. To organise meetings, training courses and events.
10. To work with similar groups and exchange information and advice with them.
11. To take any action that is lawful, which would help it to fulfil its aims.
12. To promote the health and well-being of the residents of the area regardless of age, ethnic origin, ability, s*x, belief or political affiliation.
