Last weekend saw the return of the Squadron Annual Mess Dinner after a year’s break. We welcomed Sqn Ldr Mark AC, OC London University Air Squadron who presented various awards and trophies to the cadets. The highlights of the event were:

Sunday 8th saw 2393 (Billericay) Sqn take part in the ATC Sunday parade in Basildon celebrating 85 years of the Air Training Corps.

All 160+ cadets and staff on parade were excellent representatives of their units, Essex Wing, the RAF Air Cadets and the RAF. Well done!

Tonight saw the cadets using their teamwork skills at the squadron Christmas party night at Clue Finders escape rooms.

A fun night was had by all and all teams escaped in good time.

Tonight 2393 was honoured to receive the Wing Padre, Rev Michael Child, to enrol 6 new cadets formally into the Squadron.

This intake has worked hard and entusiastically over the last 9 weeks through their initial training, learning about the ATC, RAFAC, and the RAF as well as key basic skills of Drill and Uniform Preparation. Before their enrolment they were inspected by our sector Warrant Officer, WO Aaron Smith and passed with flying colours. WO Smith was very complimentary about their uniform, deportment and enthusiastic attitude.

We warmly welcomed this intake into the Squadron in front of their families and we wish them all the very best as they progress through their cadet journeys.

Rememberance Sunday saw 2393 (Billericay) Sqn parade alongside veterans, the ACF, the emergency services, and youth groups, through Billericay High Street and a service of Remembrance at the town’s War Memorial.

VIPs included Deputy Lord Lieutnant Wing Cdr Michael Almond and Richard Holden MP.

A moving and respectful event with all of the cadets looking their absolute best and attended by a large public crowd of Billericay residents.

We will remember them.

Saturday 8th November saw cadets and staff assisting Billericay Round Table at their annual fireworks display at Lake Meadows.

Cadets were on hand for helping to direct the public, assist in the disabled viewing area and provide lookout patrols to see that the off-limits areas were not encroached upon.

The event recorded over 14,000 ticket sales, meaning a bumper fund-raising year for local charities (and the squadron)!

Thanks to all who represented the Squadron in their normal, fantastic way.

Over 120 Essex Wing personnel have returned from an outstanding week on Project Harrier MMXXV, hosted at RAF Wittering.

The super camp saw cadets join either an air, space and cyber or military skills stream, taking part in over 20 different activities and collectively completing a whopping 428 Progressive Training Syllabus badges and qualifications!

Project Harrier also hosted VIPs during the week, to tell them more about the camp’s aims, objectives and achievements, as well as its delivery model and challenges.

A huge thank you to the adult volunteers from across Essex, and from other wings, for their support in delivering this fantastic opportunity for the .

Last week Cdt Bentinck represented 2393 Sqn at National Air & Space Camp 2025 ✈️🚀

Throughout the week she took part in:
🔹 Mobility leadership tasks
🔹 Flying drones
🔹 Learning about the solar system
🔹 ATC simulator sessions
🔹 Attending NASC industry day

And to top off all these amazing opportunities she also got the opportunity to marshal in an A400M at RAF Waddington!

A fantastic opportunity to develop new skills, gain unique experiences, meet other cadets from around the country and represent the Squadron on a national stage 👏💪

Congratulations to Cpl Sanders for completing the 4-day Nijmegen road march. This test of endurance is a fantastic achievement and earns him his gold road marching badge.

After months of training including practice marches, the Nijmegen march is the pinnacle of road-marching achievement in the cadet forces.
