⭐ Bridgeland Street Open Day – Thursday 17 September, 10am–3pm

The Trust is delighted to be involved with National Heritage week and extend a warm invite to anyone wishing to view a fine example of a merchant’s townhouse, alongside original 1904 town maps from the archive. Begin your visit at the Bideford Bridge Trust Office, the starting point for the Open Day, where you’ll find an exhibition of historic maps and a small demonstration of traditional sash window restoration.

🧭Explore Bridgeland Street — described in 1724 by Daniel Defoe, author of Robinson Crusoe, as “a spacious, broad, well‑built street inhabited with wealthy merchants who trade to most parts of the trading world.”Information panels along the street reveal the history of its buildings and their occupants, showing how the area has changed over time.

Bideford University Students – Educational Bursary 2026 🎓

Calling all university students residing in Bideford!

Educational Bursary applications are now invited for eligible students within the Parish of Bideford, or to the north of the Parish but south of the Link Road.

The bursary is available to students who have successfully completed their first year at university (or equivalent) and are progressing into their second or third year, or fourth year where appropriate, of an undergraduate degree course. Postgraduate courses are not eligible.

📅 Closing date: 4th September 2026

Applicants should provide:
• Evidence of satisfactory completion of the relevant year of their degree
• A copy of their notification of tuition fees/loan account

Forms are also available to collect from our offices at 4 Bridgeland Street.

📣ANNUAL GRANT APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN

Are you a local organisation with a charitable purpose that benefits people in Bideford and the surrounding area?

The Bideford Bridge Trust is now accepting applications for its Annual Grant Programme.

Application Period:
📅 1 June – 31 July

Grants are available to organisations whose work supports the local community and delivers public benefit. Applications are considered annually by the Trustees.
