Tomorrow we will be taking down the pantry. Any last straggling bits of food I found at the back of my storage got donated to Fremington Community Pantry.

As the Pantry itself was bought/fundraised by the Community, I'd be interested to know what people think we should do with it? I don't want to take it home as it doesn't actually belong to me but it is still in usable condition. Can anyone think of something?

When we remove it I am sure there will be some grass damage. I will make sure to purchase some grass seed so the area is eventually left as found.

(I will however be keeping the hand painted sign because I'm sentimental!) 😆

I think we are reaching a point where it may be time to retire the pantry. I'd like to hope it's because there is very little need but I think its just due to there being even better and bigger free food resources out there now like OLIO and the bu**er pantries that do an amazing job. I no longer receive any donations, and it doesn't look like the swap system is holding up either. Fresh food is absolutely going to waste in there, so I can't accept fresh food anymore either!

I also couldn't even put the swap book library out this year due to the weather being so constantly awful!

Please let us know if you'd still find it useful, I can possibly reach out to get better more frequent donations but it require more work on my end and I can only manage that if there's an actual need!

I still have radio contacts for when they do food drives and present drives at Christmas.

Feel free to give us some feedback.

I’ve just gone to top up the Pantry with donations but had to take out a lot of food that was, let’s say, past it’s best.

Whilst we really appreciate fresh donations, please could you write when you’ve put them in directly on the page for all to see so people might think to go down and collect them so there is less waste.

Afternoon

If anyone is still wondering where the little swap book library is that usually sits on top of the pantry in the summer, well, it's probably obvious but we are yet to have a summer 😆

I can't put it out in the rain, the box I have has no lid so it would just leave all the books soggy within a few days.

Fingers crossed we get a break and I get to put it out before winter comes 🫠

Hope to get the pantry looking this full again soon, I have some donation money but need to find time to do a shop!

Thanks to everyone who bid on items for fundraising. We made about £35, which will do us a good little stock up!
