Bicester Concert Band Bicester Concert Band is a friendly community band with members of all ages. He was a local music teacher and a former member of the RAF central band.

Bicester Concert Band started life in 1996 when a small group of keen musicians, supported by Bicester’s Adult Education Centre, began meeting in a cookery room at The Bicester School (or, as it was called then, Bicester Community College). They were soon lucky enough to recruit the services of Trevor Jones as their conductor. Under his leadership the band went from strength to strength and in time outgrew the school cookery room. A change of name to Bicester Concert Band, and a change of venue to the delightfully refurbished St Edburg’s Church Hall heralded further growth for the band, which became a regular feature at local civic events. After conducting the band for 10 years, Trevor left to move to new projects in 2006. It was with great relief that an equally inspiring conductor, Philip Burditt, was found to take the band through its second decade. Having outgrown St Edburg’s church hall, the band’s rehearsal venue changed again to the sports hall in the newly built St Edburg’s School on Kingsmere. Band members enjoy playing in the larger, acoustically better, modern space. Under the leadership of our current conductor, Wendy Marks, the band has attracted more members and is growing once again. Wendy even took the Coronavirus restrictions in her stride and instigated virtual rehearsals and the creation of two virtual recordings. We are now delighted to be back rehearsing face to face with limited restrictions in place.

🇬🇧 Armed Forces Day & Flag Raising Ceremony – Saturday 27th June at Pingle Field 🇬🇧

This year, our annual Flag Raising Ceremony has been combined with our Armed Forces Day celebrations, bringing everything together into one fantastic community event!

We would love to see as many people as possible join us from 11:00am to watch the Armed Forces Day Flag Raising Ceremony. Raising the Armed Forces Day flag is an important way to show our support and appreciation for those who serve, or have served, in the Armed Forces, as well as their families. It is a proud symbol of the nation's gratitude for their dedication, sacrifice and commitment to keeping us safe.

After the flag raising, stay and enjoy a great day of entertainment, military displays and family fun – all completely FREE to attend!

🎶 Sundays in the Park are coming up! 🎶

Bicester Live and Bicester Town Council can’t wait for summer and the return of Sundays in the Park in Garth Park.

Our first event takes place next Sunday, and we’re looking forward to welcoming you for an afternoon of live music in the sunshine.

Here is the full line-up for this summer:

📅 12th July – Oxford Cherwell Brass and Space Pigs
📅 26th July – Jubilee Brass-Oxford and The Bellas

🍴 Food will be available at every event from Garth Park Kitchen, who will be the sole food vendor for all Bicester Town Council events this year at Garth Park — a partnership we are very much looking forward to.

Bring your family and friends, pack a picnic blanket or chair, and enjoy a wonderful afternoon of live music in the heart of Bicester from 12:30pm.
