Tomorrow, thousands of people across the UK will learn CPR together, for free, from wherever they are. ❤️

Restart a Heart Live is a free CPR and defibrillator livestream on Thursday 1 October for schools, workplaces and families. Last year more than 130,000 people took part.

🚑 WE’RE RECRUITING VOLUNTEER COMMUNITY FIRST RESPONDERS! 🚑

📍 Newport Pagnell & Olney

Have you ever wondered what you could do to help someone in your own community when they need help the most?

We are currently recruiting Community First Responders (CFRs) to join South Central Ambulance Charity team.

As a CFR, you could be called to a range of medical emergencies in your local community, including:

❤️ Cardiac arrests
🧠 Suspected strokes
🚑 Suspected heart attacks
🩸 Severe bleeding
🦴 Traumatic injuries
🫁 Breathing difficulties

You don’t need to be a healthcare professional — full training is provided, along with ongoing support from your local CFR scheme and the SCAS charity Community Engagement & Training team.

You’ll need:
✅ Access to your own vehicle
✅ A good level of physical fitness
✅ Commitment to completing the training
✅ 20 hours of responding time each month
✅ A willingness to support your local community

Training takes place over four days at the SCAS site in Thame on:
📅 Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 January 2027
📅 Saturday 30 & Sunday 31 January 2027

Being a CFR can be incredibly rewarding. You become part of your local community, develop valuable lifesaving skills and, sometimes, you may be the first person there when someone needs help.

Applications are now open for community groups to apply for a free defibrillator funded by the British Heart Foundation.

Applications must come from a non-profit, community focused group and there are a number of other conditions, including making the defibrillator available 24/7/365 in a non-lockable and uncoded cabinet (like the one pictured below).

🚨Don't forget, this Sunday (6 September) we will be opening our gates again from 11 am - 3 pm for our Emergency Services Open Day! 🚒

You will get the chance to meet your local firefighters, enjoy food from local businesses and enter our amazing raffle with some fantastic prizes you won’t want to miss out on!

👉Just a heads up, unfortunately there is no parking available at our Fire Station. The best place to park will be by the MK Dons Stadium in car parks N1, E1 and E2, these spaces are pay and display, and can be paid for via the RingGo app using code 63470, at a 50% discounted rate of £3 for up to 3 hours. It’s only a very short walk, and you’ll be at the station in no time.

We’re really keen to raise as much money as possible for the Fire Fighters Charity , so don’t forget to bring along any loose change.

Today members of Milton Keynes & Villages, Newport Pagnell & Olney and Buckingham & Villages CFR Schemes were providing First Aid cover at Olney’s RiverFest

Whilst paddle boards and homemade themed rafts raced down the Great Ouze, the team provided medical cover as competitors entered the water & at the finish where spectators had local stalls, food vans & hospitality to enjoy

On Today members of the Milton Keynes, Newport Pagnell & Olney Schemes attended Olney Cherry Fair

Principally providing first aid cover, the team also took part in CPR & defibrillator awareness sessions, talked attendees through who Community First Responders and spent time to get to know the community

All funds raised through providing the first aid cover and through merchandise sales go directly to keeping volunteers responding to 999 calls and strengthening the community through awareness sessions
