The recent Lodge of Instruction Supper

The After Dinner Speaker this year was John Dowling who is President of the Bexhill Hospital League of Friends. He ran through not only the interesting history of Bexhill Hospital but also covered the many things such as high tech equipment that the League has donated and the building alterations that they had funded.

Members and visitors enjoyed the atmosphere and meal at the LOI Supper where an update was made to the menu! Traditionally it used to be steak and kidney pie as the main event but this year a more modern but similar main course came to the table – steak and ale pie!! The three course meal went dow...

Yesterday, members of the Lodge attended the celebration of Harry’s life.

Harry's sharp wit and enthusiasm was absolutely infectious, his humour as the organist at the lodge, slipping in numerous modern tunes during meetings will always make us smile and his vivid recollection for events and the manner in which he regaled us all brought every word he spoke to life.

I was privileged to have been Installing Master when Harry went into the chair of the Lodge on his 100th Birthday, and what a year as Immediate Past Master that was. I still treasure the beautiful hand written letter he sent thanking me for my patience with him during the year as he led the lodge with, his quote "a wide variety of different workings". There was no patience required, it was an absolute joy.

A wonderful human being that we all at the lodge will dearly miss.

The recent White Table Event was run to stimulate an interest in Freemasonry from wives, adult family and friends and to dispel fears and misconceptions that prevent suitable candidates from seeking membership.

Saturday was set for a white table festive board where non masonic guests were welcomed to the after meeting dinner and limited speeches.

Recent lodge updates: February 2026

Lots of love, laughter and happiness was evident at the Valentines’ Afternoon Tea which was held at a local golf club. Members, family and friends arrived to a warm welcome and the Valentine theme was evident with roses and goody bags for the ladies and tables named after famous romantic couples.

The raffle was well supported and together with donations a grand total of £400 was raised for the WM’s nominated charities. (The Stroke Association/Prostrate Cancer and other worthy local groups or causes).

As the year comes to a close, all members found time before Christmas to join in the Christmas Crooning event held at the home of the Worshipful Master. With requested Christmas crooning songs playing in the background the festive buffet, Christmassy drinks, and the company were enjoyed by all at the relaxing event.

Through the generosity of those present £730 was raised and this will be soon be shared and given to the WM's Charities for the Year.

The hosts took their inspiration and energy from the true spirit of Royal Sovereign Light Lodge No 6630 members, a fine body of ‘folk’ who were then invited to their home to enjoy a ‘Crooning Christmas’. The resulting playlist had been put together and was played in the background of the eve...
