Warming up the Homeless.
So another year comes to a close. 2024 has been busy. Itās been frantic, chaotic, sad but mainly very, very busy. Off the scale busy.
We have had sadness with losing two of our cherished volunteers, Cheryl and Kevin. Sadness with losing so many of our homeless community, one as recent as a day ago, sadly found dead in his tent. The average life expectancy of a homeless
male is 47 and he didnāt even make that.
Our volunteers and staff have worked extremely hard, as always and have shown the most amazing dedication, tenacity and loyalty. It must be noted that all our staff also volunteer in different parts of the charity for which iām extremely grateful as I am to all our volunteers. I always say āNot all heroes wear capesā.
Thank you all for volunteering with us. Each and every one of you are greatly appreciated .
This year has been about collaborative working and we work with the most amazing statutory and third sector agencies. Here is what some of those agencies say about our charity;
āthanks again Trudy for all your sterling work and also to your team. I am sure I speak for the whole team when I say how invaluable your services are to the clients we shareā
āTrudy, the charity is simply amazing and I donāt know what we would do without Warming up the Homeless. Iāve lost count of the amount of times youāve saved mutual clients bacon with food, services and sheer humanity. Thank youā
āGeorge and his team at Gizmo House, Hastings are super human. Nothing is too much trouble and the care for the homeless is second to noneā
The clients themselves have had their say over this year too;
ā I received a microwave from you amongst other things and I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for enabling me to cook for myself and not live on sandwiches from the reduced section in the supermarket and for giving me my dignity backā
āYour help with housing advice has been excellent and I have been able to secure a small room for myself which wouldnāt have been possible with out the help of Warming up the Homelessā
āThe people who run the food trollies in Eastbourne have saved my life. Literally. I couldnāt afford food, had nothing to cook with, had no where to live and without the trolley Dollieās as we call them, I would have starved. Wonderful people. Iām housed now but will never forget their kindness. Thank you.
Whatever 2025 has in store for us, we are ready, willing and able.
Thank you to everyone on this page who have donated goods, donated money, sponsored a child to go to panto, raised funds. We couldnāt do this without you!
Thank you š
