🏡 SETTLED IN SATURDAY 🏡

🐾 Bruce (was Zeus) - REHOMED (Not avaliable)

This handsome, one of a kind, gorgeous boy came to us after he got a little overzealous pulling his owner over and slipping his collar. He was off in the wind on his own adventure leaving his poor owner behind with a broken leg!
It was a heart breaking decision but to give him the best life moving forward, it was the right time to get him neutered and find a new home…

We got straight on it and came across a family who had been applying to other rescues but got turned down (without home visits!) at the mere mention of already having 2 Guinea pigs - they were on the brink of giving up their dream to have a dog join their family. Well things were about to change. A home visit later… the Guinea pigs were living their best life in a secure large enclosure with everything they could possibly want and more!! There was no doubt Bruce was going to fit in perfectly here right alongside those delightful little guineas!

We were not wrong! He got on perfectly with them, inquisitive but so gentle and not an ounce of thinking they could be dinner or a play toy! He was a kind, loving gentleman.

He has been having a whale of a time experiencing everything exciting the world has to offer with the most wonderful family keeping him safe as he goes on adventures. Just take a look at this happy beautiful boy living his absolute best life…

🐾Volunteer Opportunity – Dog Section 🐾

Barby Keel Animal Sanctuary is looking for dedicated volunteers to join our hardworking 🐶DOG TEAM🐶. This rewarding role is perfect for someone who is reliable, responsible and passionate about all things dog!
‼️MUST be 18+ ‼️able to commit to 3 HOURS on the same day and time each week ‼️have your own car (rural location & in event of medical dog emergency, transport to a vets)

We are looking for individuals who are:
• Hard working and physically capable (able to lift heavy dog food)
• Reliable, committed and trustworthy
• Honest, dedicated and willing to learn
• Confident working around dogs of all sizes and temperaments
• Able to work as part of a team whilst also using their own initiative

The role involves caring for our rescue dogs to a high standard, including cleaning kennels, preparing feeds, exercising dogs, enrichment activities and helping maintain a safe and positive environment for the animals in our care.

Volunteering with us can be physically demanding but incredibly rewarding, and we are looking for people who can commit consistently and genuinely want to make a difference to the lives of rescue dogs.

You will be pleased to know that we have found a wonderful foster (?foster fail 🤞) family for Ralphie!

Ralphie is a sweet 13 years old boy, who came to us through no fault of his own. On his first day, one of our staff spent an hour and a half picking foxtails out of his fur and he laid there and fell asleep! He loves being with people, and so was very confused and sad in kennels. We had been working through our foster list to find him a suitable placement, when a lovely couple applied. Once the home check was complete we wasted no time getting him out of the kennels and they are pleased to report that he is settling in well and eating all his of his Forthglade meals 🐶

This photo is from just a couple of hours after they had collected him, whilst we were delivering his meds. He’d had a snooze on their sofa and then his dinner and was looking very much at home. Look at that big smile on his face! 🥹

THIS SUNDAY! 12pm to 5pm. If you have been wanting to visit our sanctuary and still haven’t, this Sunday is the day to visit! It’s the biggest event of our year. There will be many stalls, as well other fun things to do. Our plate smashing booth was particularly popular last year, as is our café which will be selling a range of wonderful food, drinks and cakes.

All of the money raised goes to the sanctuary, so not only do you get a fun day out with the family, you get to support our rescue and help us care for our animals by raising funds for our running costs and vet bills.

Our vet bills for last month alone were a whopping £11,000! And a big chunk of that was for our dogs. Almost all the dogs that come in to us need to be neutered and we are getting more and more dogs coming in, that are in need of veterinary treatment. It is constant and we couldn’t do it without the help of all you wonderful, animal loving folk out there! 💚

BARBYS BIG SUMMER FAYRE☀️
A little reminder that we are having our annual big open day on August the 9th, 12-5pm! Everyone is welcome, the more the merrier! 2 pound entry for adults and children enter free, free car parking in watermill lane🚘, and our usual mini bus will be running continuously through the day 🚌📍from sidley car park, little common roundabout and Bexhill town hall square! We have lots to do, enjoy refreshments on a hot summers day or a vegan treat🌱😋.. we have many stalls with loads of curiosities, fun games and a raffle with brilliant prizes! Come and meet us and the animals, talk to our staff and find out a little bit more about us and what we’re all about or find out more about the adoption process!🐾
Please remember to be mindful of our space and keep in mind that this is home to many animals 🏡❌and we do have loose cats that do not want to be approached,stroked or picked up!❌ It’s an overwhelming day especially for the animals and we like to be as open as we can for everyone to experience our sanctuary but we are not a petting zoo so please, refrain from touching the animals that are loose or trying to touch them through the fence/wire, parents please keep an eye on your children as we regularly end up having upset little people after being scratched. Thank you ☺️
