Following feedback from our members we are trialling a wheelchair space in Shelter 4 to enable accessibility. The shelter is the last one on East Parade before Galley Hill. Do let us know what you think.

Our volunteers have started the restoration of Shelter 2. One of the columns has been sandblasted and you can start to see the detail that’s been hidden under the layers of paint.
We’ve also started stripping the layers of lead paint inside. We’ve taken out some of the panes to enable air to flow through and ensured we use appropriate PPE.
It’s going to take some time to complete but we’re excited to have begun the project.

Please help if you can.
Half the security fencing protecting Bexhill Heritage’s latest renovation project has been snatched in broad daylight from a shelter on Bexhill’s eastern promenade.
The 10 metal fencing panels, their black stabilising feet and Bexhill Heritage’s information boards were dismantled and loaded on to a flat bed truck or into a large van in just 10 minutes during broad daylight last Tuesday between 11.09 and 11.19 am.
Bexhill Heritage chairman, Steve Johnson, said “I’m horrified by this mean theft. It has stopped us in our tracks. I guess the thieves looked like “real” construction workers so they may not have been challenged”.
There must have been many passers-by on the promenade last Tuesday morning wondering why “contractors” were taking down the security fencing and quickly driving away. Please do get in touch if you can tell us more about the thieves or their vehicles. We’ve reported the crime to Sussex Police who will be pleased to receive any information as will we.
The Bexhill Heritage number is 01424 575065.
Thank you.
