Please join us on Saturday 19 September at the Coronation Bandstand for our Autumn Concert to celebrate the 152nd anniversary of the birth of Gustav Holst. As well as enjoying live music performances we will be raising money for Bexhill Heritage projects

The line up on the day is as follows:

12.00 pm The Shady Ladies
1.40 pm Heathfield Silver Band
3.30 pm Saxonymous.

Holst played the trombone in Bexhill after his doctor prescribed it to help cure his asthma! Legend has it that Holst spent his evenings stargazing across the English Channel. This may have provided the earliest sparks of inspiration for his masterpiece The Planets.

Our volunteers have started the restoration of Shelter 2. One of the columns has been sandblasted and you can start to see the detail that’s been hidden under the layers of paint.
We’ve also started stripping the layers of lead paint inside. We’ve taken out some of the panes to enable air to flow through and ensured we use appropriate PPE.
It’s going to take some time to complete but we’re excited to have begun the project.
