A week on from Good Grief Hastings, we’ve been reflecting on the conversations, experiences and connections that were shared across the festival.

Over four days, people came together across Hastings to sing, listen, make, move, reflect, share stories, ask questions, explore memories and experience something new.

There was laughter, quiet reflection, awe, conversation, creativity and connection. We saw audiences embrace the festival with warmth, openness and curiosity, and for that we are incredibly grateful.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, whether you attended a single event, spent an afternoon at the Marketplace, volunteered your time, shared your experiences or helped spread the word.

Thank you to the artists, performers, speakers, facilitators, organisations and practitioners who brought such generosity, care and creativity to the programme.

Thank you to our partners and the and Bristol, and to our funders , and the Coastal Community and Creative Health project for helping make Good Grief Hastings possible.

Most of all, thank you to the people of Hastings and beyond who stepped into these conversations and helped create a festival that felt welcoming, thoughtful and deeply rooted in community.

These photographs capture just a few moments from a weekend that reminded us of the many ways creativity, conversation and community can help us come together through life’s most challenging experiences.

✨ Thank you for being part of it.

What helps us keep moving through grief?

On Sunday morning (24 May), Good Grief Hastings invites people to come together for a gentle 5k seafront run with Hastings Runners, followed by a talk with writer Lisa Jackson exploring how running became part of rebuilding life after loss.

In ‘Still Running After All These Tears’, reflects on grief, endurance, connection and finding moments of joy and purpose again.

Whether you’d like to run, listen, reflect or simply be alongside others, both events offer space to move through these conversations together.
