You told us that you wanted to be able to access more services in one place, so we work with our partners to invite them into the foodbank at various times.

As we develop our new space in Bexhill, there will be even more partnership working and being able to access other services in the foodbanks.

It's important to us to listen to feedback from our clients and to act upon that feedback, so this Summer, we'll be sharing some examples of times when you said something, and we responded

Where is the Bexhill Foodbank? How do you get in, and what can you expect?

Come with us and have a look....

If you have not used the foodbank before and you live in our area (Bexhill, Battle, the bit in between and out to Robertsbridge - basically TN39/ TN40/ TN33/ TN32), get in touch with us on [email protected] / 07866 570468 / 01424 322541 and we will talk to you about the help we can provide. If you have used the foodbank before, speak to the professional who usually refers you about getting a foodbank voucher.

Local people support us so well, and they want the food to go to people who need it. We can help.

We take stewarding local donations very seriously, and therefore we never want there to be any waste. You can't underestimate the importance of good stock rotation to ensure that we use everything that is donated to us in the right order.

We always give in-date food to our clients, as we believe that when life is tough enough that you need to come to the foodbank, the least we can do is give you quality food, including fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs and bread.

We are lucky enough to receive some overstock food for Fareshare, and occasionally this has gone past its best-before date, but we'll advertise those things on our help yourself shelves, and the manufacturer will have given them an extension date.

Thanks to everyone who donates even 1 tin to the foodbank; it all adds up and makes a difference.

🍐🍅GOOD NEWS🍅🍐

Free school meals entitlement is changing, and it means more families will be able to access them. Make sure you check, and if applicable, apply.

From the start of the 2026 to 2027 academic year, all children from households in receipt of Universal Credit will be entitled to receive a free meal.

Going forward, there will be 2 categories of benefits-based free school meals, those on the lowest incomes, who can also access other help for their school (pupil premium), but anyone on UC will now be able to access free school meals for their children, worth around £500 per year.

Even if you have a fussy child and they will only eat 2 or 3 of the meals per week, it is still a saving and worth applying for.

💚We still have room at our Battle Pantry for you to come along and buy some subsidised food if you are struggling currently.

💚Please don't worry about what others may think. If you need this help, come along. We're a friendly bunch, the other customers are lovely, and there is no judgment - just a warm cuppa and some really good value fresh, quality food.

💚You can choose to spend £2.50 or £5 and you'll walk away with a great amount.

🍧A snippet of today - a quick trip to the supermarket to buy ice lollies to give out in the foodbank, as this weather is just so hot! Also, wrapping paper for a client as it is her little boy's birthday soon and we got a grant to get him a couple of gifts, a cake and some birthday tea treats.

Some clients we get to know quite well as their situation can be pretty desperate, so the small things we can do to help make a massive difference. Every 10-year-old boy should receive at least a couple of gifts to make him smile. Don't you agree?

Massive thanks to Acts 435 donors for making this little boy's day, and to all our regular local donors for making our day, and allowing us to keep helping local people in difficult situations. 🙏🙏

Being able to offer 1:1 budgeting/ money coaching based on the superb money coaching course is a delight.

Our clients can attend three 1:1 sessions with Peter to learn how to manage their money better. He can help them to find direct debits they had forgotten they had, or renegotiate tariffs to get a better deal, for example.

Each client gets a £40 grocery voucher at the end of the three sessions as a thank you for their commitment.

If you'd like to undertake budgeting with Peter, please ask for a referral next time you are in the foodbank.

We love to listen to our clients and take on board their feedback where we can. It was a joy to be able to reorganise the Station Road foodbank and get it decorated last year.

It's so nice now when people come in who have not had to visit for a year or two, and they can't believe the difference. Welcoming, light, bright, a reception area, signposting, and a big help-yourself area.
