RVA is the professional body that drives the voluntary and community sector in Rother. We are a registered charity (1117546) and a not for profit company (5333784). Our main work is to support local community groups with help, information and support but we also run community projects and services ourselves, support volunteering and strive to help improve the local economy in a socially and enviro

nmentally sustainable way. We seek to strengthen the social and economic well-being of local communities in Rother and surrounding areas and help people fulfill their potential in a socially and environmentally sustainable fashion. 🎉 It's Age Without Limits Day! 🎉

Today is all about questioning common assumptions about age and ageing, because when we question ageism, we challenge it. And the more we challenge it, the more we start to change it.

If you're looking for last minute ways to get involved, you could:
- Share one of our posts and add your own thoughts about what questioning ageism means to you, or choose an ageist stereotype (like 'can't teach an old dog new tricks') and share why you want to challenge it. ✍️
- Talk to your friends, family and neighbours about ageing and ageism! Use our handy conversation starters on our website for some prompts and questions like, 'what do we mean when we say ‘act your age‘?' and 'Why do we say ‘you look good for your age‘? Why not just ‘you look good’?' 💬

If you're hosting an event today or this week, we can't wait to see what you get up to! Make sure to tag us using and , and thank you so much for getting involved.

Together, we can create a future free from ageism.

The Sussex Outreach Support Youth Pizza & Social Nights are free monthly events for young people aged 11–18 living anywhere in Rother. You do not need to live in the village where the event is being held to attend.

Each session offers free pizza, sports, creative craft activities, games, and the chance to meet new people in a safe, welcoming environment. Friendly youth workers and community staff are on hand to provide support, advice, and a listening ear if needed.

The evenings are designed to be fun, inclusive, and help young people build confidence and connections.

🎉 Community Good News Story! 🎉

The RVA team is delighted to celebrate the incredible achievement of Heart Of Sidley and the upcoming opening of the new Sidley Hub – a fantastic new community space created by and for local people. ❤️🏡

Over the last 10 years, RVA has been proud to support Heart of Sidley on their journey from a grassroots community initiative to one of the area's leading community organisations. It has been inspiring to watch their vision grow; bringing people together and creating opportunities across Sidley. ✨

The Grand Opening & Summer Festival on Sunday 28th June is a huge achievement for the community. The new Hub will provide a welcoming space for local people to connect, learn, socialise and access activities and support, creating a lasting legacy for the community🌟

Over the years, RVA has supported Heart of Sidley through:
🤝 Governance and organisational development support
💰 Financial management support (thank you Peter!)
🌐 Facilitating networking, partnerships and collaboration
🎪 Working together on community events and local initiatives
📢 Championing their work and celebrating their volunteers

We were especially proud to see Heart of Sidley recently give RVA a shout-out and recognise our support along the way. While this achievement belongs to the dedicated staff, volunteers, trustees and residents who have driven the project forward, we are honoured to have played a small part in the journey. 💜

A huge congratulations to everyone involved in making the Sidley Hub a reality. We can't wait to see the celebrations on 28th June and watch this amazing community space flourish for years to come! 👏❤️
