Our Cowpie Committee are busy making the final preparations for our Cowpie Country Show this Sunday 14 June and great news…the weather is going to be amazing!
Please remember to send your “Favourite Place in Surrey” photo into County office, as well as printing a copy to be judged at the show. The layout needs to be landscape and no identifiable people please. Winning entries will feature in our 2027 charity calendar!

We are thrilled to announce that Surrey Young Farmers were the overall champions at the 2026 South of England show.
The Young Farmers stand had a futuristic farming theme and we saw some amazing static entries from space cakes to futuristic tractor designs, robotic machinery, regenerative farm power models and futuristic farm animals.
Thankfully the weather improved on Sunday, allowing members to take part in stock judging and the orphan lamb competition.
We are indebted to the many volunteers who helped steward and judge classes, who ran the café over the three days and to everyone who helped decorate the stand.
We would like to say many congratulations to all our members who took part.

This year, we have a brand-new competition for our COWPIE COUNTRY SHOW.

Members will be able to purchase their own eggs (any poultry), keep them in an incubator and hatch these on the w/c 20 April.

What will you choose?
Quails (cheepers), chicks, ducklings, pheasant (poults)….remember the incubation period is around 18 to 24 days, so make sure you purchase your eggs soon.

The Surrey Young Farmer members will need to start their diary when they first purchase their eggs, and then once the chicks are hatched, keep a weekly diary for a period of six weeks, showing how they have cared and raised their chicks.

All equipment and eggs to be provided by members.

Sadly, there can be no poultry at our Cowpie Country Show, but we cannot wait to see your diaries and how your chicks have grown at our show on Sunday 14 June.

Many congratulation to our Reading, Public Speaking and Member of the Year competitors who did really well at the South East Area Spring competitions and also took part in the Area Youth Forum.

We are now counting down the days to our Cowpie Country Show, so please put Sunday 14 June in your diary for our Cowpie Country Show.

This is a fantastic day out for all the family and our Surrey Young Farmers get to take part in a variety of challenges, stock judging, main ring games, and static competitions. New for this year, your very own “Surrey Young Farmers Village.”

As the Easter holidays are almost upon us, please remember to take photos for our 2027 calendar competition, with the theme “Your Favourite Place” in Surrey.

The photos must be landscape layout and could include Surrey landmarks or simply your favourite view. No identifiable people, but animals / birds may be included.
Happy snapping!

Many congratulations to all members and advisory who took part in our “Futuristic Farming” Indoor Rally on Sun 1 Feb. We had an amazing display of static exhibits, with futuristic farm animals made out of clay, including flying farm cows and pigs with their own solar pack. The futuristic farms and the recycled farms models and machines were so inventive and we loved seeing your designs for futuristc tractors.

Our novelty cakes were out of this world (literally with the space theme) and there were aliens everywhere, being captured in the alien attack game, being drawn in the still life drawing class and great home-made alien costumes. The Cube class was very closely contended and the baking classes were very hard to judge with fantastic beetroot brownies and carrot cake muffins.

The generational photos were really imaginative and one of the most impressive entries was a YFC shield made out of cress. Our Cowpie Show programme cover, Competitions schedule cover and club publicity pages were all selected from classes of a very high standard

We wish the VERY BEST OF LUCK to our Beare Green YF members, who qualified at the Indoor Rally and are representing Surrey at the South East Area Spring competitions this weekend, in the Reading, Public Speaking, Member of the Year, Young Member of the Year and in the Situations Vacant competitions.
