Wow. Just Wow!.

A huge thank you to everyone who turned out tonight. The room was full, the energy was incredible, and the sense of togetherness was genuinely moving.

Seeing so many people give up their time, share ideas, ask thoughtful questions and show real belief in bringing the Globe back to life reminds us exactly why this matters. This really is our pub, our past, our future.

We’ve got a lot of work ahead, but nights like this show what’s possible when a village pulls together. Thank you all for your support, encouragement and belief. Onwards, together 🍻

🌟 Share Certificates Ready for Collection! 🌟

A quick and cheerful update for all members of Globe Together Community Ltd…

Our first batch of 135 personalised share certificates has now been printed and signed — a lovely milestone that brings us another step closer to bringing Ye Olde Globe back to life together. 🍻💚

If you’ve signed up as a member of the Society, your £1 share certificate is now ready for collection.

You can collect at the next meeting, or directly from Sandy if that’s easier.

A big thank you to Julie, who will be adding her signature to each certificate.✍️😊

This marks another step forward for us as a community — 135 of us already putting our names to the future of our pub.

To help kick-start our fundraising, we’re launching our first Globe Together raffle — and the prizes are brilliant thanks to generous local support.

🎟 £5 per ticket
🎟 OR five tickets for £20

⭐ Prizes include:

🍺 Pulling of the very first pint at the reopened Ye Olde Globe in partnership with a local celebrity!
🎄 A festive Christmas Hamper
🏹 South West Shooting Day experience
🏉 Signed Rugby Ball by current and former England stars
🍽️ Sunday Roast for Two at Ilfracombe Golf Club
🍾 4 Bottles of cider and a bottle of Scape Goat spiced rum

Tickets will be on sale at the meeting — and all money raised goes directly towards securing and restoring our pub for the whole village.

🎄 SAVE THE DATE – WITH A LITTLE MORE DETAIL! 🎄

A quick follow-on to our earlier post to confirm the plan for Friday 12th December at the Manor Hall.

We’ll be gathering from 7.00pm for mince pies and mulled wine — yummy — before kicking off the community meeting itself at 7.30pm.

We’re looking forward to offering lushings of both mulled wine and updates, and getting our teeth into more than just mince pies as we share where things stand with the Globe and what’s coming next.

See you there — the more of us in the room, the stronger our voice and our momentum.

🕰️ A Step Back in Time at Ye Olde Globe 🍻

Back in the 1950s, the Olde Globe was already famous across North Devon — even featured in print as “the heart of one of the prettiest villages in the county”?

The article painted a vivid picture:
✨ a “merry-go-round of five rooms” filled with warmth and laughter

🔥 a curved stone fireplace with a built-in settle

🕰️ a 200-year-old grandfather clock ticking since 1771

⚓ copper ship’s lights, Tudor benches, swords, blowpipes, and curios from across the world!

And at the centre of it all — Mr A. J. Long, the innkeeper described as “a warm-hearted man with a warm-hearted wife — and what better qualification is there for a successful Innkeeper?” ❤️

It’s stories like these that remind us what the Globe has meant to generations — a place of friendship, character, and community spirit.

Now, it’s our turn to bring that magic back. 🌿

With standing room only at last week’s village meeting, it’s clear how much Ye Olde Globe means to us all. The energy and ideas in the room were inspiring — and thanks to Chris and a growing team of volunteers, the Globe Together steering group is already taking shape.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be:

📱 Going live on social media
🤝 Reaching out to local groups and curating stories, photos and memories that remind us why the Globe has always been at the heart of Berrynarbor life.

This campaign is about more than saving a building — it’s about keeping our sense of place, pride and togetherness alive.
